because it is called yahoo ANSWERS, meaning they want you to answer the questions. Basically it was started for people who wanted to know the answer to a particular question, (i.e. what is RAM and what does it do for my computer, etc). Now people would rather ask questions about grafting animal parts to their arms. I for one would like to know what happened to the polls questions. lol

No. Look at this as if it were a game. You ask a question, lose five points, but regain three points when you vote for the best answer.
Then you can go ahead and answer more questions, hoping to hit ten pointers once and awhile, but at least gaining two points for each answer.
Some on here give one word answers, collect vast scores with low best answer scores....those types are like the proverbial kids who took up space in school.
Yahoo Answers sometimes has some brilliant people on it.
I'm hoping it gains more and more brilliant people with high intellectual capacity.
I'm hoping we get to a point where we can answer questions on a global scale.
I know there are other groups for foreign countries, but you must be able to write in foreign languages.

why does it matter?
you get most of the points back when a best answer is chosen anyway. do points really matter that much to you? just use the your yahoo account and ask questions. getting every point possible isn't the most rewarding thing in the world anyway. yahoo gives the cruddiest prizes for having so many points. i really could care less.

I didn't even know you loose points for asking questions. That is pretty dumb, and why do they give points in the first place? It's not like you get anything you really want. I just answer questions because I get bored and I ask them because I am curious. It's all kind of ridiculous but whatever.

You're right, they should charge 100 points to ask a question.
After all, this is Yahoo Answer's not Yahoo Questions!

This is just the way the system is designed. If YOU choose a Best Answer and not the voters, you get 3 points back.

That was the points system. You pay 5pts to ask a question, you received 3pts by choosing the best answer to your question, receive 2pts for answering question and an extra 10pts when chosen as best answer.

I agree with you. When you ask a question, you're still contributing to the Yahoo! community. That shouldn't be a negative.

Yahoo is a very mean company. They are unfair and do nothing about random reporters and meanies. We should all get our five points returned when we pick a best answer.
