my four year old niece was in the car with gramma and blurted out "what the ****?" then hung her head and said "sorry gramma I know I'm not supposed to talk like that around you"
sorry but I had to laugh.
This is the same niece who was there when gramma had the paramedics at the house and ended up getting an ambulance ride to the hospital. This niece came in the house with 2 emt's and the 2 ambulance attendants and said "gramma, do you have clean underwear on..cause I know you didn't brush your teeth"

Unashamedly, and unrepentantly YES! Lighten up indeed, people. It's just a freakin' WORD!
I remember when our son was about 5 and told his visiting grand-mother that we'd just had the dog's balls cut off.
Oh, how we all laughed! Where the heck had he heard that? Hmmm....

No, that is an adult word and what are parents teaching their kids by allowing them to speak that way? By the time that kid is 7 years old he/she is gonna want to know what it means and why some people are offended by it. I really don't want my kids knocked on their but*s for saying a word that they don't know offended someone.

No. As a responsible adult, you need to tell them that is nice a nice word to be saying. Try to refrain from cursing in front of them. What will happen when they go to school? You will be sitting in the principal's office explaining why you did not correct them.

I think Elizabet pretty much said it all. If you don't mind a
gutter mouth on a 5 year old, just wait a few years.
