Who says anyone has to reverse global warming...

Why to we assume that global warming will just continue forever unless we do something about it?... The earth has been cycling through periods of warming and cooling for billions of years (long before humans).... So I say humans are extremely arrogant to assume (without proof) that they are the cause of the current warming and yes, we should ignore it and yes it will eventually go away (wither humans are still here when that happens... well that's another question)

100 years ago it seemed impossible that we could do anything to reverse air or water pollution. We were a growing industrial nation. We needed to pump black smoke into the air and toxic chemicals into the water.

Well, it turned out that we clean up a lot of things. We have cleaner industries and the old manufacturing industries are much more efficient and cleaner. We have life returning to rivers where they haven't been seen in decades.

Of course, some of this is because polution has been shifted to other developing nations but a lot is because we've found cleaner ways of producing things.

And after resisting regulation for decades, some Republicans now proudly claim credit for Nixon creating the EPA and passing the Clean air act.

Is it proven that we can reverse Global warming? No, it hasn't. But most of the things we have to do to try are things we need to be doing anyway. There will be serious benefits from adopting a more sustainable approach to everything we do. Do we even know how to do that? No, but we have to start thinking about this NOW and start doing what we can.

Newt Gingrich is calling for conservatives to take the lead in cutting back CO2 emissions. He made a great point. If the liberals take the lead, it will lead to more taxes and bigger government.
He wants a solution to cut emissions without taxing the poop out of people and creating another huge government agency. In a debate with John Kerry, he admitted the science behind global warming was correct. He wants to take sensible action. He wants a conservative green movement.
Got any ideas?

Proof? Come on, man. Did Chicken Little need proof? Global warming is a done deal. We are already working on the next crisis du jour. What do you think about overpopulation? We haven't tried that one in a while. Or how about the heavy bass in rap music is going to cause a catastrophic tsunami?

There is no proof that man can reverse, or even slow global warming.

That does not excuse anyone from being good stewards of this planet however.

Industries that pollute the atmosphere and water should have to take full responsibility for their actions - and take the necessary steps to stop doing so.

Politicizing the issue is not the answer. Waking the f**k up and seeing the effects of our neglect is.

Myself, I have not read or heard any definitive proof that man is to blame. The world is obviously going through a period of climate change, an aspect that has happened many times before (UKs mini ice age etc) Man is too insignificant to cause such a massive change in our natural history.

The proof is in the mind, of one, Albert Gore Jr. And I don't wanna know what else is in there. It's much too confusing to try to understand.

I find it fascinating that they define the problem and indicate that it is "very likely" or "most likely" caused by man. They go on to indicate that man cannot "stop" the process. And conclude that we must do everything we can to limit identified sources that are "very likely" or "most likely" contributing to the problem.

Sure sounds like "hard" science to me!

if it is real, we might want to decide how much worse to make it ... if we can't reverse it.
