Cravings are normal, no matter what it is. This may sound a little weird, but when my wife was pregnate with my son I had the cravings. From about week 12 to week 18 I craved sweet pickles. I could not get enough of them. When my cravings went away, then she started craving parsnips and turnips. Go figure. LOL

very normal. I have heard that the weird cravings like the dirt and things like coal and wood chips are a sign your body is not getting all it needs, but that could be a myth. I had weird food cravings but nothing like grit and sand. it is very common though.

This is my forth preg and always thought it was funny woman craved pickles cuz i had never had that craving , well i started to crave pickles with this baby so bad , one night i went to the fridge and there was none left( kids ate them all) , i was so upset i started to cry , i even considered waking up hubby at midnite to go to the grocery store but thought it was in my best interest not to LOL. I waited til the next morning and i high tailed it to the grocery store as soon as it was open , i swear i was walking around grocery shopping eating those pickles i wanted them so bad LOL

It is normal for somebody to have cravings that they normally wouldn't, but if a person is craving non-food items (like sand) then she needs to talk to her doctor immediately any doctor will tell you that could be a sign of a chemical imbalance.

Erm...

-Sellotape. The white kind, which smells vaguely like pineapple... Yum! I chew it, apparently it's not doing me any harm....

-Fish - the only fish I have ever liked is tinned tuna, but we're having trout for dinner, sardines the night before, cod, etc... Really weird!

-BLACK chocolate, of the 99% cacao kind. Odd too, since I've never been a big choc fan. Kinder eggs are another!

Yeah, all kinds of odd things, but Sellotape has to be the wierdest!

I sucked ice cubes with my first too...

36 weeks pregnant. :-)

Very. My craving with my son was paper. Yeah. So instead of eating looseleaf or tissues I ate rolling papers since they are made of rice rather then wood. My mom craved raw oysters. Those are 2 very normal cravings.

Not really weird but early on I had cravings for rasberry zimmers and all of the sweet cake like stuff, ding dongs etc. I never really ate them much before at all. Then later on I liked broccoli and oatmeal alot.

Yes it's normal. I ate grits and scrambled eggs like a mad woman. As long as the food thier eating is not harmful to them or the baby, they will be fine.
