You should first look where the problem is. I mean r u getting disturbed emtionaly? Or is it that u r under some kind of stress. There are many yogas, pranayams n breathing exercises which I might suggest but ppl seldom follow them though they give the quickest results. But if you already know any pranayam u can do them n see the results!
Also before going to bed think of the most beautiful place...with all the beautiful things u want ....This might help!!!
Drink lots of water all through the day !

Priya,
What is ur age? If ur quite young ur health will take a beat due lack of sleep.
Anyway you may follow this if you wish.
Never be under constant pressure and tension, relax.
Try to have food 3/4 stomach full before 9 pm. Have at least 15 minutes walk. Dont drink anything including milk, after food. If needed have one banana, it releives constipation.
Avoid/reduce hot and spicy/coloured, fast/junk foods.
Take lots of fluids buttermilk/lemon juice, fruit juices, etc.
Wear loose fitting cotton cloths (including lingerie) at nights.
While on bed before retiring do not keep recalling any memories. In that case, count 1 to 20 and back to1 few times.
If this does not help, Get up early in the morning. Have a walk outdoors (even house terrace is adequate) After routine day work, in the evening wash your face, ear lobes, flash plenty of cool water into your eyes, take care not over do it.
Listen to soothing/melodius music along with evening/early night activities. If Needed refresh yourself to take sharp bath before night food. Clean your bowls (nature call WC). After food brush your teeth well. If any of your dear ones are there talk to them for about a while.
Check your monthly cycles for any abnormalcy.
Don't watch TV before going to bed. By this time you yourself will feel that you are being dragged to sleep. If u sleep well atleast atleast for 5 hous a day, ur energies will be pumping back.
Good sleep. Dont dont imagine to dream, which may reduce ur sleep.
Bye

Yoga Nidra, which literally means "sleep of the yogis," is used to prepare both mentally and physically prior to seeking deeper levels of consciousness and awareness through meditation. However Yoga Nidra is also regularly practiced on its own as a daily relaxation technique. Adherents claim that half an hour of Yoga Nidra can replace up to three hours of normal sleep, although its regular use as a sleep substitute is not recommended as the body and mind still require sufficient rest through standard sleep.
The true sleep of a yogi is a state of consciousness in which the yogi is connected with the Divine energy pervading the whole Cosmos. This energy is beyond space and time, allowing the yogi to possibly see the past, the present and the future. A yogi may also become aware of his past lives. Through Yoga Nidra the yogi can work through Karmas, as this clarity penetrates levels of the subconscious. It is used to help purify the subconscious through use of certain vows known as Shankalpas. Experienced yogis use Yoga Nidra for astral travels and in its highest level it leads to Samadhi.
Yoga Nidra should not be confused with techniques of autosuggestion, or "autogenous training."

see, if u stay back at home all day, or sleep a bit in afternoon, then it's obvious u can't go to sleep at night.
If u work in day not only at home, but i mean doing job, then u should be able to sleep at night.
