Yes, you will need the catheter even though the procedure is only 1 hour because the spinal will last hours and will cause urinary retention. You will not be able to pass urine on your own. So to prevent bladder damage from oversretching the urinary cathether is indicated

Possibly. It depends on how far up the block will go. If it goes up to where your bladder is, it will numb your bladder and you would need a catheter. You wouldn't want to pee all over yourself, would you?

for most surgerys they insert a catheter because you are compleetly asleep and numb. have a good surgery! :)
