I cannot find in the instructions what to enclose to the 1040 form to the IRS in addition to my w-2 stub ?

You should NOT enclose copies of receipts for deductions. Attach any schedules and forms that you were required to fill out and any supporting statements, any forms W-2 or 2439's that you have, and forms W-2G and 1099-Rs that have federal income taxes withheld.

You'll find this info on page 63 of the 1040 instructions, under the heading "Assemble Your Return".

IRS forms used in preparing Form 1040 have an Attachment Sequence Number indicated in the upper right corner of each form or schedule. The instruction is on page 63 of the Form 1040 instructions (the one with instructions for the other usual forms & schedules, such as A, B, C, E, SE, etc. Just look at the instruction, then attach the forms you were required to complete, based on the complexity of your return. If you itemized deductions, Schedule A shows the detail. If you have more than a certain amount of interest or dividend income, Schedule B must be filed. It all depends on what you have included in your return.
