John, you are right, I'm Hispanic but we must show respect for the soil we're stepping on and the people of this country. By the way, even Native American have learned English. If someone goes to my country, he has to speak Spanish or else, the same goes with me here. Why do we, Hispanics, need to be so defensive and immediately claim "racism"?? No matter who owned part of it in the past, this is 2007 and right now, this is the United States of America, love it or leave it....Your phrase transtaled should be: "Por favor, muestre respeto, aprenda inglés."

I dont know much about spanish.. Though from what I understand is that it is closely related to Italian. If you intend on learning Italian you may want to learn that first as from what I understand people that learn Spanish first make a lot of mistakes in Italian that they are unable to correct due to habit. However I am not a language expert, just a Fester posting my best answer! Enjoy! Fester P.S. English is the most complicated language known at the moment. With all the slang and adjectives we use.. It is much more difficult then Spanish. Though once you have the basics down.. You are good to go!!

IN CASE ANYONE HASN'T NOTICED, AMERICA IS THE FREE COUNTRY- THE MELTING POT OF ALL CULTURES. YES ENGLISH IS THE OFFICIAL LANGUAGE BUT EVERYONE HAS THE RIGHT TO SPEAK WHAT THEY WANT. & UNLESS YOU ARE AN AMERICAN INDIAN, 1 OF YOUR ANCESTORS WAS AN IMMIGRANT AS WELL. Why are u so limited? Worry about yourself learning more languages FIRST and leave people alone. I don't care if this is America or China, people speak their native language wherever they are, and by the way, Spanish is the language of many Americans, remember southern states were Mexico before?

I refuse to adapt to them and learn their language. They are in my country so they need to learn English. I like where your head is at though.
