I live in Canberra. I was raised in QLD so always consider that my home town. I have adopted Canberra as my number two home town because it's presents stability to me. I have a great full time job - NOT IN PUBLIC SERVICE!!!!
I have met my loving partner amd we share a household with two cats and a dog. We go to the movies, walk the dog, go to the festivals and carnivals and shopping centres, footy games and out to he pub with friends. If we want to get away we go to Sydney or Melbourne.
It's not as big as Melbourne or Sydney and it's entertainment for 16 - 25 year olds is a bit slow but there is something for you if you get out there and look for it.
I suppose it's boring because there aren't as many night clubs or as good complexes for shopping but Canberra ios continuously building and more and more things open up every week.
Mind you every one knows everyone or knows someone who knows that person who you met last night whilst speaking with someone you knew! 6 degrees of seperaion...oh and people don't know how to merge in Canberra... :)

Yes, I lived in Canberra for 25 yrs.
And yeah, when I arrived originally, it was a pretty boring kinda place. BUT, in the last few years its changed quite a bit. Lots more restaurants and cafes opened, the quality and service has improved in all aspects as well. Over the years it has grown to become a small city with always something to do. Their are all types of festivals on all year round so you'll always find something to do. If your a fitness fanatic then its great, its full of parks for jogging, walking the dog, exercising or riding a bike. Its without a doubt a great place to raise a family, the schools are good, neighbourhoods are safe and the people are friendly. Yep,i did once live in Canberra (now I'm in Europe),and yes i also at times thought it was boring, but hey life is what you make of it and if your an easy going person you'll always be able to find something to do there.

Canberra is a city of about 300,000. That means it is a fraction of the size of Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney. That means there is less variety. Try living in Dubbo or Cowra for a while then ask yourself if any larger place is boring. Like any other town, it is for working adults and is not intended for the entertainment of adolescents. As far as politicians go, they are rarely here and there is barely 200 of them all told (including the local ones), so they don't go far among 300,000. I've been here 16 years and only seen about three.
By the way, more than half the working population does not work in the public service.

I lived there for a month and it's kinda sm. compared to Fresno. It's nice outside and there's palm trees unlike Reno). So that's pretty much it! :)

"From" being the operative word. It's fully of sinecural politicians for a start.
