A long time ago, in a Chicago far, far away, my Senior Year English teacher assigned us to read "Cat's Cradle" by Kurt Vonnegut, Jr. I loved this book, and read the whole thing overnight! The next day I was bursting to tell everyone what happens next, but my teacher made me keep the secrets until the class caught up! Soon I got "God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater" and the others, including the great "Slaughterhouse Five." I think that Mr. Vonnegut helped shape my young mind; I know he helped give me my distrust of our, and all governments! I felt like I lost a good friend when KV, Jr died. So it goes. edit: That was a catch phrase he used once, "So it goes."

Thx. That's not good. But Kilgore, et al, live on.

"In this era of big brains, anything that can be done will be done - so hunker down." -- Kilgore Trout (1946 - 1001986). (Kurt Vonnegut's alter-ego - Galapagos)

He was one of the best minds of the 20th century

No man is an island,
Entire of itself.
...

Each man's death diminishes me,
For I am involved in mankind.
Therefore, send not to know
For whom the bell tolls,
It tolls for thee.

- John Donne (1573-1631)
