Over the year I've heard people say things about satanism and it not being true, like they kill babys and animals for blood sacrifices and stuff I know lots of satanists and they don't do that I've done the research and learned the rules and if you add it all up it's just a selfish religion telling you, you can live life to the fullest, in the end you start to realilze that if god wanted you not to be gay or whatever then he wouldn't have given you a free-will he would have make you. If anyone as a diffrent opintion feel free to tell me.

The Nine Satanic Statements
1. Satan represents indulgence instead of abstinence.
2. Satan represents vital existence instead of spiritual pipe dreams.
3. Satan represents undefiled wisdom instead of hypocritical self-deceit.
4. Satan represents kindness to those who deserve it instead of love wasted on ingrates.
5. Satan represents vengeance instead of turning the other cheek.
6. Satan represents responsibility to the responsible instead of concern for psychic vampires.
7. Satan represents man as just another animal – sometimes better, more often worse than those that walk on all fours – who, because of his "divine spiritual and intellectual development," has become the most vicious animal of all.
8. Satan represents all of the so-called sins, as they all lead to physical, mental, or emotional gratification.
9. Satan has been the best friend the Church has ever had, as he has kept it in business all these years!

The Eleven Satanic rules of the Earth
1. Do not give you opinions or advice unless you are asked.
2. Do not tell your troubles to others unless you are sure they want to hear them.
3. When in another’s lair, show him respect or else do not go there.
4. If a guest in your lair annoys you, treat him cruelly and without mercy.
5. Do not make sexual advances unless you are given the mating signal.
6. Do not take that which does not belong to you unless it is a burden to the other person and he cries out to be relieved.
7. Acknowledge the power of magic if you have employed it successfully to obtain your desires. If you deny the power of magic after having called upon it with success, you will lose all you have obtained.
8. Do not complain about anything to which you need not subject yourself.
9. Do not harm little children.
10. Do not kill non-human animals unless attacked or for your food.
11. When walking in open territory, bother no one. If someone bothers you, ask him to st

I'm a Christian, but know several Satanists, and don't have a problem with them as people. They don't sacrifice babies, bathe in human blood, kill black cats, or any of that nonsense. And they're willing to hang out with me, even though we follow different paths.

I've always thought that Satanism was created as an "Anti-Christianity." As a way to rebel against mainstream culture and scare people (use of pentacles and 666, both tabo sybmols in Christianity, yet not at all connected before). I think since then it's been reformed or divided. I once saw this "Satanist" woman on the news being interviewed on her religion, and she said it was about "enjoying life because there's nothing after death."

I think you nailed it. Hedonism is a much older school of thought than satanism, but the benefits and pitfalls exist unchanged by the new name. What it boils down to, is what good has ever come to the world borne of selfishness? I disagree that free will is free of consequences. We are free to choose, right or wrong. Taking the easy choice everytime IS easier, but not necessarily better. It's just a lazy exercise of your free will.

Hmm... First I want to say (just for the record) that I am a Christian - and I think that Satanism is as valid a faith as Christianity, or Buddhism, or any other. I think the reason we hear so many bad things about it is because it is still one of those "unknowns" to most people, and it scares them. It definately ruffles the feathers of most Christian faiths, just by name. I personally know people of a lot of different religious backgrounds, and when it comes down to it, none of us are all that different. Just comes down to respecting people and what they do or don't believe in.

i know somenbody who says he is a satanist. he explained to me that there are 2 types of satanism. the satanism that believes in human sacrifices (the ones you kill will serve you after death) and violence, and the satanism that believes in the natural causes of things and explains almost everything by science. for the second ideology, he mentioned the ideas of Anton Sandor LaVey

I'm not personally a Satanist but I am very familiar with the religion, and think very highly of it.
I have many friends who are Satanist, they are highly intelligent, sensible and wonderful people.
The common misconceptions are strewn about by religious zealots angry at anyone who doesn't believe in their religion.
Said people are often the ones cramming it down other peoples throats and then getting upset other people look down on their religion.
Respect is given where respect was gotten.
Double standards are a biatch.

Satanism is the only religion that is worth a damn.
Don't look to theists to look at this rationally. They'll just shove their heads deeper into the sand.
Katz, they are one and the same. The Nine Satanic Statements and the Eleven Satanic Rules of the Earth were written by Anton LaVey.

The actual rise of Satanism cannot be separated nor indeed understood outside the context of Christianity, for Satanism developed as a counter-movement against Christianity.
Development of Satanism: 16th century records reveal that the Catholic Church defrocked priests in Europe for allegedly perverting the Mass for evil purposes (the “Black Mass”). The “Black Mass” reached its height in 17th century France, during the reign of Louis XIV. Catherine Deshayes known as La Voisin, organized Black Masses for bored French nobility. In the 18th century, anti-morality clubs like the
“Hellfire Club” celebrated the excesses of their carnal appetites, and mocked the sensibilities of the Church through elaborate “Black Masses.”
The most famous Satanist in the 19th century was
the Abbé Boullan of France, who was obsessed with Satan and evil since he was 29. The seeds of modern day Satanism were sown by Aleister Crowley (although not a Satanist himself). Crowley’s ideas culminated in the creation of the world's first organized Satanic church - the Church of Satan, which was founded by Anton LaVey in San Francisco in 1966.
At present, there are two paradigms of Satanism:
1. Atheistic Satanism: Satanists in this paradigm do not believe in a literal Satan. To them, “Satan” is a symbol that represents consistent resistance to Christianity. Atheistic Satanists worship the ideals of Satan and present him as an
archtype whose traits are to be emulated. The best known example of atheistic Satanism is the group founded by Anton LaVey (1930—1997) in 1966 - the Church of Satan, headquartered in San Francisco.
2. Theistic Satanism: In Theistic Satanism, the Devil or Satan or his equivalent (such as Set, Azazel, Apollyon, Lucifer, etc.) is believed to be a real spiritual being and is worshipped or revered as a deity. Theistic Satanists are also known as "Traditional Satanists," "Spiritual Satanists," or "Devil Worshipers.” An example of theistic Satanism is The Temple of Set, founded in San Francisco in 1975 by Michael Aquino, who splintered away from LaVey's organization over philosophic differences. Another theistic
Satanist group is that founded by Diane Vera, in 2004 – the Church of Azazel that worships Satan as the god of this world, the god of the flesh, the god of the mind, etc. Both atheistic and theistic Satanism make use of ritual magick as a means of invoking, gathering or focusing occult or supernatural powers.

I am a Satanist. While it does tend to be a viewed as a "selfish religion," I would not refer to it as such. It if were truely selfish, one would not be instructed not to do harm unto others who do not deserve it.
The golden rule is "Do unto others as they do unto you." That is not selfish, not in my view anyway.
However, to those who do view it as selfish: Better selfish than sanctomonious and guilt-ridden. I am of course referring to the Christians and White Witches.
Added thoughts: As to the whole "sacrificing babies" or "killing cats," that's mostly propaganda with a few satirical jokes thrown in. See "Black Mass" of "The Satanic Bible" (Anton LaVey).
