People who study habits say that it takes about 27 days for something to turn into a habit---meaning you just do that thing, mostly without thinking or needing a reminder.
For flossing, what helps me is that I actually keep floss in the living room (my coffee table has a little drawer). I floss in the evening, while I'm watching TV. For me, it doesn't seem as boring if I'm watching the news or something while flossing, instead of standing there in the bathroom.

i cut out some really colorful papers and write "FLOSS! because the dentist is very evil" and stick it on my bathroom mirror. i also leave the floss out next to my toothbrush so i always see it. in addition to flossing, also use mouthwash, it can help get rid of plaque and other bacterias.
i love my dentist but hate the pain i have to go through with each cavity filling so i try to avoid getting cavities as much as i can.

I don't mean to be gross, but I keep my floss by the toilet paper. It works for me! And it is a more efficient use of my time than reading a magazine.

set the floss out where you can see it before you brush your teeth and get good flavored floss so you'll want to floss on a regualr basis

Use photoshop to create a picture of yourself with half of your teeth rotted out. Or write a note for your mirror asking if any decaying food is stuck between your teeth that may cause your breath to smell foul.
just a thought
