Just wondering... Don't get all defensive and start pulling out your bible quotes. Just answer the question honestly. If you were to die, and find out that all of your ideals and beliefs are NOT true, how would you respond? Don't defend your religion, I'm not attacking it. Think about it. Only one religion out of all of them can be truly correct. What if it's not yours?

I'm going to put this one to vote, just to see who's paying attention.... But I have to ask ONE more question. I've noticed a lot of you Christians saying that "you're only human" and you've lived your life with "the BEST intentions"... well, if you really feel that way, then why do some of you come down so hard on the rest of us? Don't you think that we also have the best of intentions? Don't you think that we, whether we are right or wrong, intend to live a good life with rewards not only to ourselves but others? Open your minds, and don't be so quick to judge. Thanks for the honesty.

I am a Christian. You ask, what if after I die I find out that everything I believed in was wrong?

1) What IF atheism was right after all? THEN, after I die, I would cease to exist and that will be the end of that.

2) What IF Islam was right after all? THEN, after I die, I would come before Allah who see that although I did not know much about Mohammad, I did know about the other premier prophets (Moses, Jesus, the apostles) and did my darnest to obey them and follow their example. I will not probably make the highest tier in heaven, but since Islam is a legalistic religion, I will not be condemend for what I did not know, but be rewarded for what I did know and obeyed. So, I'll probably end up as one of the gardeners in Paradise, but I will be in Paradise!

3) What IF Buddhism was right after all? Then by the laws of Karma, becuase as a Christian I tried with all my heart to live a moral, ethical life, I will not be reborn (reincarnated) as some vile crawling creature! While I certainly wont be a Bodhisatva, I will at least ne reincarnated as a human being again!

4) BUT what if Christianity is right after all and all the others wrong? THEN, I have the righteousness of Jesus Christ my savior clothing me when I face my Judge. I will recieve all God's promises to His people: forgiveness, resurrection, eternal life.

As I see it my freind, as a Christian, I JUST CAN"T LOSE!

Very good question. I'll also be curious to see the answers. To answer you honestly...I KNOW beyond any doubt my god exists. There is no doubt in my mind. Oh, there used to be and I tried just about everything out there. To answer your question theoretically, IF I was wrong, I will die defending my LORD...Jesus. If it was to be that HE did not exist...I would want to cease to exist also since something out there has been intervening in my life and speaking to my heart and soul all these years. God has provided so many miracles in my life I could never even consider HE does not exist now. I will pray you find what you are looking for and fill any spiritual need you lack in your life. May God take the veil from your eyes so you may see. May HE open your ears so you will hear. May he soften your heart and mind so you will yearn for what HE can give you. God bless you.

In 1976 I over smoked grass, took some pills, drank some wine, and smoked some grass again, and went to bed, while so doped up, I felt myslef feeling weard, so I started praying the lords prayer, but could not remember it, all I could say over and over again, was "My Father which art in heaven", and say it again. "Then without a worning, my body froze, and I could not move, I heard this voice, and could not move my body, I could not move my eyes, I was frozen. This voice told me, if I was to die, I would go to hell, and at that time when I heard hell, my body started falling downward, into the earth, fast, I could feel flames of fire coming up with heat, my eyes burned my finger nails and toe nails burned, and I heard the voice tell me, Repent. I heard scripture I never read yet. I have each one marked in my bible today. But I did die, it only proved my faith greater.
I am alive due to a forgiving God. But the truth here is this.
I know what is, will you find out the truth before you die?
I have no problem with you not beliving me. NONE>
I know deep with in my very soul what is the truth. Reality is this. What do you belive? Who cares one day when your all alone in your brain with thoughts of sin as it condemes you to hell like it did me. No book, just my own thoughts. It knows everything I ever did. It all came back to judge me. Not God, the book is writen for believers not the non. So, can you tell me, what are you going to do, in your last breath?
Remember to say Jesus, and cry it out. You will be saved. Just remember that in your torment.
Any one who calls upon the name of Jesus shall be saved. I just pray you have time to do it.

If those who actually practiced the ideals and beliefs of Chrisianity (servitude, self-less love, forgiveness, generosity) died, they would leave behind wonderful memories and an undying model for those still living. Their impact on those around them would remain even though they would not. Leaving a legacy of those kinds of qualities is the reason the Christian life, even if wrong, would not be a waste.

If it's not mine, then I was wrong, plain and simple, and will suffer the consequences (or hopefully, be instructed as to which beliefs were correct, and how I missed the mark). I'm only human. I don't claim that my beliefs are perfect. In fact, the probability of them being flawed is quite high.

If Christianity were not true, then basically I have lost nothing, since living the Christian life is a very positive thing. But if I don't believe and Christianity is true, then I have truly lost, Big Time.
Get the picture?

I wouldnt even consider the beliefs of my Catholic faith not to be true. If I reject my faith in the Church, I reject Christ who is the head of the Church. I would not be in the Church if I did not recognize it as the truth. Imagine asking the Apostles that, especially in the book of Acts, where they were preaching Christ so boldly. Their faith was so strong and we should take after them. God Bless!

Umm... oops would be a good start. Hopefully God would be as forgiving as I see him to be, but if not I guess I would suffer whatever punishment he sees fit. And hopefully I wouldn't be so blind as to not see the truth when it was standing right there in front of me.

If I'm wrong, I'd expect a full apology for not sending me a personal invite. Hey, if Muhummad, Moses, Saul/Paul, Simon/Peter, Krishna, Horus, and others can get personal invites, then I'm entitled to one too. But I'll completely understand if it was FSM. I never read his books.
