i'm not gonna choose a best answer for this one...i'll let the people vote! my question wasn't answered, but your info was appreciated and taken into consideration. But after all, my boyfriend decided not to do trucking after 3 attempts with schools, and 3 out-of-state trips. None of the schools seemed to be for him.

several companies will get you trained but most of them make you sign a contract stating you will drive for them for so many years. then they run the hell out of you don't plan on being home any for a few years. good luck

I have been in the transportation industry for over 17 years from reefer freight to flatbed. Where do you live and how old are you? I can then give you some companies to check with. The best way is find someone you know that drives and ask if you can go along for a week or two, watch what they do and ask if you can drive in a parking lot to understand the shifting and braking.Best addvice don't get in the industry, freight is slow fuel is high respect is none. But if you do go to a big company like Marten Transport, Schieder, JB Hunt they have benifits and pay well. Any questions let me know. Thanks Ron
