okay so you say God is in the Holy Trinity, the Father, the Son (Jesus) and the Holy Ghost (Spirit), my teacher (who is catholic) told me that all three are equal because in reality they are all ONE but in three different forms and whatnot, but i was wondering how can they be equal when the Holy Bible clearly shows that "the Father" is in "controll" of Jesus and has an higher status, for example:

Colossians 1:3
We give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

This is saying that Jesus is "praying" to the Father, "Jesus Christ, praying always for you," so im wondering if God is in three but in reality God is One that means they are all of equal power, but here it shows Jesus "praying" to the Father which means the Father can do what Jesus cannot, which means that Jesus and the father are not equal in power.

PLEASE TELL ME IF I AM MISUNDERSTANDING SOMETHING, I DONT MEAN TO OFFEND ANYBODY!! IM JUST WONDERING

There's two different trinity beliefs: One God, three facets; and Three persons who are One. So, the answers may be a bit confused.

Okay, let me explain it this way. The God who is spirit has a spirit who is called the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the creative power operating in God. The Holy Spirit is the power which brings all things into existence. Notice I said the power. Without the Holy Spirit there is nothing which can be brought into existence. So, yes the Holy Spirit is very much God. Now Jesus Christ is the Word of God operating as a function of God's salvation. The Word of God was dwelling in God, until the Word was needed to fulfill a purpose for man kind. It is by God's Word all things are framed. Read John 1, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God". So, if you are going to define God, it is by His ability to bring all things into existence and then rule over it. But if you take away the Holy Spirit or the Word, then God can not do so. They are equal to God, but the Lord Jesus calls Him Father as in rank and authority. Like if you had a private and a sergeant. Both are equal in regards to being people, but the sergeant is recognized as the greater because he carries more authority. I hope this helps.

Yes, it is truth that Jesus did pray to the Father. But what happens here is that there different because they have different functions all though they are all one. But this does not mean that one is greater than the other.
" For there are three who bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word (Jesus) and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. 1 John 5:7
Hope this helped you out, God Bless

Hi. Trinity is dogma. So if you want to know about it, it's better to look up history books rather than the bible. A historian or bible scholar will give you a more informed answer than a christian because christians have their dogmas in mind when answering this question. Also, Jesus talks about the Father being one with Him just as you and I are one(Johns Gospel) We are all part of something collective. I know that quoting the bible totally contradicts the start of my answer.....so sue me.

I dont know the answer as in whos more powerful.
If there are 3 seperate beings as suggested,
Im sure they run a kingdom that will not fall
onto itself by being unevenly yolked, they would have to pull together in order to stay in perfect harmony in executing tasks.
Its the same as satans kingdom there are some more wiser than others but all have to
work together to achieve certain goals.
The thing about Jesus is he came to the earth in the flesh which god didnt, he lived a life with sin all around him and god did not.
And by what god wanted him to do made him the perfect sacrifice for all mankinds sin.
And by his coming back to life made a gift
available for all who wish to believe.
Another words his ressurection with him alive makes him the mediator or bridge to god for man.
So I guess you could say hes not second class to god but a part of a body or a governmental function in restoring heaven.
God runs heaven you know with the angels and who knows what else.
I would say god is the big cheese.
As far as the holy spirit, that is exactly what it is a ghost, you cannot see it but its there,
I believe if you ever wanted a sure haunting
just go to church and of course thats what everybody does in a sense calls up the
only living spirit of Jesus christ and if people accept the ghost or comforter to dwell with them then it will forever.
It does not go aginst your will as demon would.
The holy ghost not only comforts or runs off all the demons away from a tourmented soul but guides it throughout a life to grow
and mature into whatever god has prepared
for us in the after life.
When we accept the holy ghost we become a part of Jesus, just as the lost become a
part of demons or the devils kingdom to be judged.
There has to be three because of us.

God runs heaven and earth.

Jesus makes man acceptable to god by being a living sacrifice for mans sin.

The holy ghost communicates with millions
of souls at one time on earth in organizing
certain tasks in carrying out perfect harmony
of gods kingdom here on the earth.

Think of it this way the only reason for jesus
was for our salvation.
If we werent created than there probably would of been just god and a bunch of rebellious angels.

Here's an easy way to understand it.

Think of the Godhead as an office.
The office has three desks. all are equal all work for the same company all have the same goals.

God the father is ahead of them, yet..
Christ is the creator, Christ is the word made flesh
Christ is our saviour.

Christ also said it is worse to reject the Holy Spirit than to reject him.

Jesus is the son of God. Remember when the Disciples came up to him and said.. Good Master.. Christ responded
WHY call me good.. there is none good but the Father.

Yet also, Christ called himself I AM and Jehovah.

THis is why so many people have a problem with Christ.
Christ is the one who was in the fiery furnace with Shadrack, Meshak and Abednego I am really messing up the spelling there, but go along with me.

Christ talked to Moses in the burning bush.

Christ puts himself on a level with the Father,
because he is.
People don't like that concept.
Especially when he says.. None shall come to the Father but through me.

Christ is the Alpha and Omega. Without HIM we'd be nothing.

and you are right.
THey are all one.. they all are of equal power.

It works better if you think of God in terms of one human being.

If you like you can consider the Father as the mind, Jesus as the body, and the Holy Spirit as the the spirit.

They are all equally important parts of the same human.

Remember that the existence and nature of God is a tough idea to fully get your brain around.
Good Luck

In my understanding in the trinity, the father(God),the son (Jesus), and the holy ghost are all equal because God is in all of them. God is the father of Jesus and the holy ghost spreads the word of God. God is related to and is the trinity. I hope that makes more sense to you.

I am a Christian and I do NOT believe in the trinity. The scripture you quoted is just one of many that shows that Jesus was who he said he was- not God, but God's son.

The trinity doctrine developed in the early 300's. (No such idea was held by the bible writers)

At the council of Nicea in 325, Constantine laid the foundation for the trinity doctrine and it's source seems to have been the pagan gods that he grew up worshipping. (many ancient cultures had triune gods... and mother son gods much like the Mary/Jesus worship that was instituted around the same time)

The trinity is not a biblical teaching and you are right to question these things that make absolutely no sense!

By the way, nowhere in scripture is the holy spirit called "god", "a god" or "one with god"

Colossians 1:3
We give thanks to God the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you,

you are misunderstanding, this is not a direct quote or something Jesus said.

This book is Paul writing to the colossians telling them that he(Paul and the people he is with, not Jesus) are praying to God the Father for the colossians, to whom he is writing the letter.

Where does the bible say that God is in control of Jesus? Jesus had the same free will that we all have when he was sent to earth in human form. He gave up his divine nature to live a sinless life and die for our sins. That is why he was constantly praying to God the Father when he was here on earth. He gave up the power and did not have it here on earth but had to ask God the Father for it when someone needed to be healed or he needed strength
God the father did not force him to do so but rather he chose to do so because he understood what it would mean.
