There are a lot of people on and off on this. One states that the idea that mankind could become like God was Satan's plan (in the Garden), but that is not entirely true. God put the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil in the Garden, not Satan. God knew Satan would tempt man and knew they would partake. He did not decieve them, but knew them. Because He knew this would happen you could assume it was part of His plan. If it weren't, then Adam and Even would have remained in the Garden a lonesome couple, knowing niether hapiness or sorrow and not fulfilling Gods other commandment to procreate. Therefore, although Satan thought it was his idea, he was really playing into God's hands. So, this argument is flawed, at least to me.
The other statement, that Satan was cast out of Heaven because he wanted to be greater than God, is true. This does not discredit or go against the Mormon belief that they can become as God, gods. Mormons believe they will never have more glory than God and will always worship God as the Father and the Supreme Being. Satan on the other hand wanted to be above God, to sit in His throne. Mormons do not believe this.
One can interpret the scriptures call to be perfect like Christ in anyway they want. We are called to be one with Christ and the Father also, what does this mean? Religion is personal and there is nothing in the scriptures that can truly discredit the belief that we can become gods (lower case), but likewise we find the scriptures equally vague on becoming a god.
Your statements are accurate for Mormon beliefs, and they have some logic to them. However, for those who are set in their beliefs, you cannot often reason in a worldly and logical way, because religion is not often logical or proveable. Religion is based on faith.
I do believe we can become perfect like God and His Son, Jesus Christ. We will never be greater than they are and will always worship and honor them. If we cannot become perfect, then Christ's sacrifice was for naught.

With God all things are possible, some people seem to forget how wonderful and powerful He truly is.
I know that Heavenly Father has not revealed all the truths to us, if he did wouldn't we know how the Earth was created? We are not ready to know everything, so I am always on my toes wondering what He will reveal to us next, and I am truly humbled by that. Yet some people seem to think they have all the answers.....

Mormonism has spread the lie that Satan told in the Garden of Eden because Mormonism is part of the Masonic conspiracy. In the bible the temptation to be gods alludes to the condition that we can decide for ourselves what is right and wrong. Are we able to do that? The fact that sin entered the world through making the choice to believe that we will be wise proves we cannot, and only God is God.

oooh i like you! you should email me to chat more about this.
Jesus says to be LIKE him, but not to be GOD like him. That's why Satan got kicked out of heaven, because he wanted to be God. Sure, God has the power to make us become gods if he wanted to (um, i guess, although honestly i don't believe that) but where in the Bible do you see that? you don't. you know why? because it's not true. Don't you trust that God doesn't make mistakes and if something was imperative for us to know he would have put it in the bible? you know mormons believe that it was actually a good thing adam and eve sinned because otherwise they never would have "known" they could become Gods. in otherwords, mormons are thankful for all the sin, death, disease, and evil that goes on in this world so that they can selfishly "become gods" although the bib le is celar that this isn't the case.
finally, think about this: if a good Christian dies and mormonism is true, he goes to heaven. if a good mormon dies and christianity is true, he goes to hell. Is it really worth the gamble?

Some Mormons think that God was a human man who ascended to godhood - Joesph Smith first came up with this idea.
The whole idea of the story of Adam and Eve was that if one were to eat of the tree of wisdom (or knowledge or whatever you want to call it) one could become as God, or in other words, become God. God didn't want anyone to be like him, with his omniscience and all, which was why he forbade them to eat from the tree. So I would say yes, if there is a God, he would have the power to make humans into God. However, that would take worshippers away from him, so it would never happen. As it says in the Bible, Exodus 34:14 34:14 For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God.

This was a lie of the devil from the beginning in the garden when Satan was tempting Eve in Genesis 3:5 Satan himself states" For God does know that in the day you eat thereof, then your eyes will be opened and you shall be as gods knowing good and evil" You see the temptation was more than the fruit itself it was the temptation of increased knowledge and being"like gods".This same lie the devil is still using 4000 years later and even using preachers to spread it. It was lie then and its a lie now. The bible says our righteousness is like "filthy rags" " Dust thou art and dust thou shalt return" If we were or could be little gods then how could we humble ourselves like we are supposed to. That is the reason Satan was kicked out of heaven as he tried to put his throne above God!

Look at the prayer Jesus prayed in the Garden in Matt:
Father let them be one with us as we are one,
If we have Jesus in our Hearts, and our minds are re newed, God tells us we will gane his power. So God made the way for us to become just like him. Only he is the God, we are just the creation of him. But we can live with his power flowing in us. It takes self control, and living a holy life. exceptable to God, then we can become his child, and have his personality.
Love, Joy, understanding, mercy, long suffring, kindness, giving, peaceful, hospitalble, worm. Any one not showing this kind of behavior, is not of God. So they will never have power to cast out deivls, heal the sick, raise the dead, visit the poor, help the widow. Be parents to the fatherless. They are none of Gods if they have not this personality. By doing this, is where the power of God falls upon a person, and changes them. Power of mind and Spirit. God pulls heart strings. Thats powerful. So personality, yes, we should have it. If we are like Christ, we are like God who sent him. They are the same.

You ARE on to something! good for you!
The truth is that God (Heavenly Father) is our Father (of our Spirits)...We are His children! We are of the same race!
John 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
John 20:17 Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
It is the doctrine of the devil to say we rose from the lowest forms of life...the truth is that we come from the highest form of life....God.

EVERY PARENT DESIRES HIS CHILDREN TO BE LIKE THEM OR EVEN MORE THAN THEM BECAUSE OF LOVE.SO DOES GOD,YOUR REAL MOTHER-FATHER DESIRE THE SAME.EVERY HUMAN WAS A GOD,AGES BACK,AND WILL BE A GOD AGAIN IN AGES TO COME,EACH ONE ON HIS OWN TIME,BY HIS OWN SPEED,ACCORDING TO HIS OWN DESTINY.ANY THING MADE OF GOLD IS NOTHING ELSE BUT GOLD,BE A HUNDRED DOLLAR RING OR MILLION DOLLAR STATUE. ALL HUMAN BEINGS CAME OUT OF GOD AND ALL OTHER CREATURES OUT OF HUMAN BEINGS [GOD CAN HAVE NO ANIMALS IN HIM ] AND SO,IN TIME,ALL CREATURE FIRST CHANGE INTO HUMANS AND ALL HUMANS INTO GOD.THAT IS THE MEANING OF "GOD MADE MAN IN HIS OWN IMAGE,IN HIS OWN LIKENESS HE MADE MAN".IN THE BOOK OF JOSEPH,WHO LATER WAS BORN AS JESUS,IT SAYS:I HAVE SAID,YE ARE ALL GODS REMEBER,GOD WHEN ON EARTH IS CALLED MAN AND MAN WHEN IN HEAVEN IS CALLED GOD,ACCORDING TO THE LAW OF "WHILE IN ROME,DO AS THE ROMANS DO" .gfr.
