As long as you agree with the teaching of the church, there is no harm in getting baptized there. Just because you get baptized there doesn't mean you have to attend there. You can still find a different church afterwards.

Getting baptized in a Church should not make a difference unless they believe that you are getting baptized into their Church, if so, this is wrong. The water batism is unto Christ and not unto a Church. Actually I will take this back also. It is very important. One should be baptized in the name of Jesus, not in the name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost. The name of the Father, Son, and the Holy Ghost is Jesus. The baptism is for the payment of your sins so that you can receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:38. You also must turn from your sins, the Holy Spirit will give you the desire and the power to do so. You should pray and don't worry about Grandma, if she is a true Christian, she will understand, that you need God's approval and not man's. Whatever you decide, don't wait long. I suggest the "Vineyard Church" They are geared toward the younger generation with contemporary worship and Biblical teachings.

first of all- Baptism does not keep you from going to another church. If you are being baptized to become a member of your grandmother's church know that this is not any where in the Bible. Baptism is an outward expression of an internal change. It symbolizes the death and resurrection of Jesus. You can be baptized in this church and then move on or wait until you are ready to be baptized in obedience to God. It seems you are not ready to be baptized- you should be excited about your decision- don't forget though it is not for membership into the church- it is a symbolic act to show your faith in Christ. Did that help?

I don't understand why you are being baptized if you don't want to be. Just tell the pastor you need more time to pray about your decision. Tell him the Lord is telling you now is not the right time for you, and you would like to wait. He will understand. No one should be baptized without wanting to. Even your grandmother will understand. Let her know you would like to go to a church with more of a youth group. There are some really good ones everywhere. Be honest. You are not doing God any favors by getting baptized now, and your family would not want you to do this under duress. I would not let one of my kids get baptized untill they were sure it was their desire and calling. I will pray for the Lord to give you courage and the words to say. When you do get baptized it should be a special time for you. :)

How old are you? It sounds like you don't want to be baptized at all. Why are you doing this? I am all for people finding God and being baptized, but I wonder about your reasons? Assuming that I have misunderstood your question, you can be baptized in any church as long as it is done by an ordained clergy and in the name of the trinity. Later you can go to any church that you want. You are not tied to that church forever. But you are only baptized once in your life.

Baptizing In Water Is As Important As Baptizing WITH The Holy Spirit

Hi famous. Find a church that teaches the truth. The Gospel of Jesus Christ, that is Salvation by the Grace of God and not of your own works. Stay away from any church that speaks in tounges or believes that God is sending Devine revelation through dreams or visions. These churches are preaching false Gospels.
But, baptism by water is not necessary for your salvation. God speaking in Luke 3:16-17 tells us:
"John answered, saying to all, “I indeed baptize you with water; but One mightier than I is coming, whose sandal strap I am not worthy to loose. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."
Water baptism has nothing to do with becoming Saved. Baptism was an outward sign (ceremonial Law) that God had instituted for the local New Testament congregations. This was to show us a representation of how water (either by sprinkling or pouring on, or by being immersed in) washes away the filth of our flesh (our sins). In the eyes of God for one of us to be clean, it is He (and He alone) which applies the Water of the Gospel to us. And thus, washes away the sins of that individual. The act of water baptism has no spiritual impact on any person.
You could baptize all day and all night and there is no guarantee that anyone of those whom you baptized were saved. Christ was baptized in water and so was I, but it plays no part in anyone's salvation.

It doesn't really matter what church you get baptized in. If you really don't want to, then stand up to your grandmother. You aren't a kid anymore...or are you? :)
I know what you mean though. Some churches are just morgues with a bunch of people waiting to die. It's nice when you can find one that has a little bit of life in it.

Dont do it because if you do it you are a hypocrite. I do not believe you are a christian because you are not interested in following Jesus's example of being baptized and your not interested in obeying the word of God from reading everything you have posted the only thing your interested in is you. So if you do that with your attitude like it is it means nothing because you would be a liar and a hypocrite a phony!

Sometimes it is better to listen to an older adult especially if you are under 21. If you honestly feel that your grandmother had anything to do with raising you in a christian context of life, it is better to do it her way. Make sure you keep your baptism papers so that when you transfer membership you can let them know authoritatively that you were baptized.
