My friend told me that if you are not paying for Lime Wire,if they find out, they will fine you 250,000 dollars per song.

You'll get fined if you share copyrighted stuff. It doesn't matter if you use the Pro version or not (i.e. pay for Limewire).

You get fined even if you are paying for Limewire. When you pay for Limewire, all you're paying for is network access and less ads. It's still illegal to download music or software or movies. The crime is copyright infringement, and the fine is between $750.00 and $150,000.00 per file, although it's up to the judge in the case to decide which amount to use.

There's plenty of free stuff on Limewire that's ok to download. the problem is when you download music that you probably know is copyrighted. Most mainstream bands are. Then chances are you are technically breaking the law. Pro version or not.
