This message goes out to all of you extremists envirmnetalists who think that hunting, fishing, logging, camping, 4wheeling and such should be banned. Try living out on a deserted isand for one month. Nothing man made is to go with you. No cloths, No knives, No metal produckts, and no food. Your goal is to live on the island with just what god gave you when you came into this world. You are not allowed to use a fire or make any tools that can harm the enviroment. making cutting objects out of rocks is forbidden as this disrupts natures ballance. No fires, because fire is harmfull to the enviroment. No eating of any wild animal or fish because this too will disrupt the echo system on the island. No eating of the plants, becaue yuor preciouse spotted owlel (or its cousine) might be in need of it. No Deficating on the island (deficating is a huge polutant). If you think you can survive and you can give me ten ways without harming the envirment and/or the echo system I might

Rethink my views on you, and will not have a personal vendeta against you. but other wize please stop positng your hypocritical views in our section.
I do care about the enviroment I do care if our world is around for my grankids, and that is why i fallow the laws regaurding my outdoor activities, and that is why I am a member of three fishing clubs, Ducks Unlimted, Elks unlimeted, I purchase hunting and fishing licenses and tags that I hardly ever fill. I also donate sever hundred dallors a year to the wetland conservations. But at the same time I do all of this I use the outdoor recources to my fullest potential.
So before you go flying off the handle at some guy for catching a record fish or killing a record buck, see if the animal was taken leagly, and within the terms for that state or country. if it was, then he/she was doing what every one else in the same situation would have done.
So my offer stands. ANy Takers?

Slim or is it really Slick(?hmmm???) you made me think about what a terrible life it would be if we couldn't hunt and fish, but the thing is, you proposed not being able to defecate. I am not a vegetarian and can control myself pretty well, but those salad shooters are looking for trouble.
Living alone with what God gave me when I came into this world unfortunately does not include my vast selection of fishing tackle, rods and all the accoutrement that one needs to fulfill a great days fishing and quite honestly I would hate to be put into a survival scenario without them. It makes me think that my Apache Indian ancestors were far more advanced at surviving without anything but a few rocks and sticks they could put together into a complete survival kit. Maybe we should blame them for disrupting nature for being too modern.

Your point is well taken.
Bravo!

Tree huggers used to only work for logging companies and the telephone company. It's developers and farmers who have layed waste to the once vast forests in North America. And P.S., agriculture, I.E. Farming, contributes the highest physical quantity of CO2 as billions of acres are deforested and grasslands plowed under and sprayed with fertilizers that feed bacteria that break down organic matter and release CO2. Not to mention total loss of top soils due to erosion.

Anyway, without the fees from hunters and the taxes collected for ammunition and all kinds of hunting gear, rifles, shotguns, clothing, and all that other fun stuff there would be no money and no bureaucratic power to preserve or acquire the lands to hunt or shoot on. No politician will spend that money on shooting ranges or hunting lands unless we write them and ask them to do something. Unless we do, they'll just spend those tax dollars you paid for all of that fun shooting and hunting stuff on Ivory back scratchers.

Not sure who answered the old question about a bolt lock or catch on an AK-47 but the term "Ak-47" is very broad. None of the AK-47's including the Chinese Type-56 that I used in the real world during the 1980's had any kind of bolt catch, period. You fired until you ran out of ammo and then reloaded from a closed bolt. I still have my Type-56 with the fold out spike bayonet and put nine 30-Rd. mags through it last weekend. It would be nice if it had the empty mag bolt catch thingy. I fired captured AK-47's from Lebanon at the NTC in Ft. Irwin, CA in 1985 and they did not have any kind of bolt catch either. Lots of "AK-47" type rifles out there and I suppose later models may have been improved and have some kind of bolt catch thingy.

At the dawn of agriculture, about 8000 B.C. the Human population of the world was only around 5 million. It was only about 200 years ago that the world's population reached the one billion mark. However, in the last century alone, the population of the the Earth has more than tripled and is now at more than 6 billion. Most of that growth has been in the last 50 years. In the next 50 years, it is expected that the population of the Earth will surpass 10 billion.

So in response to your question, when our claim to fame as a species was little more than fire and the wheel, the potential for Human beings to have an impact on the global environment was virtually zero. But with the population at more than 6 billion and growing at a rate of 203,800 every day, it is tragically naive to think we are not disrupting our fragile environment.

In fact, we do live on an island - Earth. And in case you haven't noticed, it's getting real hot and crowded around here and we'd better figure out some way to stop crapping on each other or we're all going suffocate in our own sh*t.

Most hunters and fishermen are environmentalists. Responsible logging companies plant more trees than they cut down. Realistic environmentalists want each of us to live intelligently so that we minimize the negative impact we have on the only planet we've got. No one with a lick of sense wants to go back to caveman days. In real life, we each have to give a bit of thought to how we live. No one is 100% right. None of us lives in a vacuum. We have to use the brains we've got to help our planet survive so our kids & their kids can hunt and fish and have a cabin in the woods if we want ALONG WITH cities and cars. We can work it out, if folks on both sides use some common sense and think before we act. What do ya say partner?

Well put Slim. I agree with following the rules and laws set forth in any outdoor activity.
This question and post will draw criticism from everyone who does not share your point of view.
Thanks for taking care of the pictures for me on FHOEU. I will have to send you a few more of the latest trip I had on my kayak.

If this country were a deserted island then hunting and fishing would be necessary, but they're not, and killing animals just so that you can brag about being the one that killed them is wrong. Hunting is obsolete, and people who think it isn't should go to their local supermarket and see how much meat there is there from animals that have already been killed. I'm not against animals being killed for food at all; I'm simply saying that it's no longer necessary for people to go out into the woods and kill animals when there are plenty of animals who have died to produce the meat that is sold in supermarkets.
