Most of the modern trainers are made to work with quick release wheels. It's either taking off the front wheel and placing the forks onto the t-styled post and bolting the the mid section to the trainer to stabilize it or mounting the rear wheel in between a clamping device with no wheel removal. These trainers should be able to fit 26" tired MTB or 700c road bikes.

Absolutely. All the newer "wind" trainers have clamps that work for quick releases because most quality road bikes have quick release wheels. I would recommend you get a spare quick release and spindle setup so you can use that when on the trainer and avoid scarring up the ones on your bike.

Definitely. Trainers that mount to the rear wheel have a cup like fitting that secures around the skewer. In fact, many of the newer ones come with a skewer that fits nicely. They do this so you don't damage the skewer on your $1500 wheelset. haha
