I'm debating on whether or not I really want to get a tattoo considering it is a permanent mark that I can't remove without going through an extremely painful, not to mention exspensive, process.

No, I don't plan on getting anything on my arms, neck, chest, ankle...or anywhere else which could hinder me from a job in the future. I was thinking more lower on the hip in the front to the side, possibly lower back.

Thoughts?

I don't have any tattoos because I don't feel strongly enough about anything to go through the process. My mom and sister do though and they are very happy with them. I think you have the right idea in putting it someplace that can be covered easily for work and shown off when you want.

You may want to consider doing the outline in henna first. That way you can see what it's like to have the image on you for a long time without committing to permanent ink. Good luck!

Well it's something that can be seen in the summer. (Keep out of the sun during the first few months.) Whether or not it's trashy depends on what the tattoo is a picture of. I mean you don't just want to get a tattoo because everyone is doing it. Make sure each tattoo you get, you have a great story behind. OR has meaning to you. Make sure it's one that you can look at and never regret. You don't want someone's name. That, I think, is trashy, unless it's a child, sibling, parent, or other family member. Marriage doesn't last forever in all cases. So, maybe get a picture of what you like and ask people what they think of it as a tattoo. But most importantly, you need to like it.

To Get A Tatoo Would Really Depend On The Person's Opinions & Point of View...If U Really Want 2 Get One Try To Get One With Your Name On It...Or a Butterfly...Or Another Pretty Design. To Me Some People...Who DONT Know Where To Get One...OR What To Get A Picture Of...Seem Trashy...But People Who Do Know These Things...They Look Cool...{I Cant Judge A Girl On Atractiveness}For You Your Name Would Be Cool...

Tattoos are tacky. Period. Unless you were born in the boonies and having tattoos is part of the culture, people should not have them. I'm sure the Victoria's Secret models have some, but they aren't showing them off. People with class realize that tattoos are stupid, pointless, pretty damn ugly (and they get even uglier when you age), and a waste of money. Guys can have tattoos, it looks trashy on girls IMO.

Sexy! Plus just to mention, i do believe that in the near future there will be a painless small expense way to get rid of tattoos. there is already a few lotion type things out there that gradually take away tattoos. im SO not saying that they work i have never tried them and nor have i known anyone that has. But if they are already out there now, can you imagine what it will be like in 5-10 years?! BTW, if you design something yourself that means something to you then you will most likely never regret it. tattoos, to me, represent a place in my life. I dont see how you can resent it, as long as you dont get a boyfriends name tattooed on you or get some big crazy unicorn or something lol Good luck!

Trashy or Attractive??? That all depends on what you get tattooed. I personally think that tattoos are awesome. Get something from your heart. Its something you will live with the rest of your life. Be creative! Enjoy it!

I love body modification, so of course I'll say its attractive. But no matter who you ask you won't always hear the answers you are looking for and regardless of whether or not people love them or hate them you should really only get a tattoo if its something you are completely comfortable with.

Don't let others sway YOUR feelings on this. Take the time to think about it and decide if this is right for you.

I am an inked woman. My first was a design i had drawn my self, and redrawn and redrawn about 6 times until i was truly happy with it. I had that design since i was 16 and finally got it done at 20, on my right shoulder blade. I love seahorses and even though its a fantastical style, i still love it 10 years later. I also have 2 more seahorses on my ankles with my kids names on them, yet another seahorse on my upper arm, have a black calligraphy style outline of a seahorse on my left breast, have plans for some twinned seahorses across my lower back, plans for a matching seahorse on my other shoulder blade and am currently pregnant with my third child so already have the seahorse with this childs name on it, drawn up for my inner ankle. They are all matching in the fact that they are more fantasical style. My father was terrified when i told him i was getting a tattoo the first time but i wanted the design to be a surprise, he was a fisherman and would always bring me home a few seahorses, dried, that would come up in the nets. He was pleasantly surprised, he was frightened i was going to come home with a giant skull and crossbones across my back, or something. My mother always accompanies me when i get them done. I love them, i can show off one or two or all of them if i choose. There is a saying, The difference between a tattooed person and a cleanskin is, a tattooed person doesnt care if you dont have one. Its personally up to you, i have a fair few tattoos but nobody has ever told me they look trashy, at least never to my face. The tattoo artist had never done a seahorse tattoo before and he drew a few up himself for his parlour, based on my original design, i have since seen a few about and even on a few men.

I have three and I love them. I haven't been sorry I got them at all. I have one on my arm, so I can see it, one on my shoulder and one a little lower than my waist, so you can see it with hip huggers or a bathing suit. I don't think they are trashy at all. Mine are all fairly small, they aren't bit things, they are pieces or art. I get a lot of compliments all the time.
But as you said, it's something you have to live with, so you really have to be sure before you do it. I thought about it for a long time before I went out and had it done. It certainly wasn't a spur of the moment decision.

I think the person can make them look trashy. Sometimes I think they look "classy" and that depends on where the tattoo is and what its of. If you're worried about it because of it being really noticeable or it affecting your career put it somewhere where it wouldnt be easily seen. Get something that means something to you so that you dont regret it and want to have it removed. You dont want to spend that time and money on something that isnt special. I'm hoping to get one soon and I dont think it will be trashy. People can say what they want and express their opinion but it all comes down to you and how you really feel about it. If you want to go through the experience and you're feeling good about it and its something you know you'll like to keep for the rest of your life, go for it.
