I think just the opposite. I was speaking to an M.D. recently and he told me how shocked he was that so many patients lie to him. When asked to explain he said almost always, when he asks heart patients about any surgeries, they will say no.
But when they remove their shirt or blouse, the scars from open heart surgery are obvious. I advised this doctor that I believe that the body and brain try to block traumatic injuries and that's why his patients say no.
About 10 years ago, I broke a leg. It healed up with no problem, but I cannot tell you which leg I broke. About 7 years ago my wife broke her leg and I have asked her several times recently which leg she broke and she can't remember.
I believe this is a survival coping skill.
Great question!

The body probably doesn't remember tragic events. It is the brain that does. I highly doubt that one could actively have this suffering unless it is a medical problem.

I'm not sure about the body but I can tell about what happens to me
I had something drop on my hand once that cut my thumb to the bone. Without going into detail, it was pretty messy.
15 years later if I cut my hand my whole body shutters and I flash to that moment of seeing my thumb.
However the most pain was from a gunshot and other than the scars, it's like it never happened so go figure..

The body doesn't remember the events, it's probably the brain. But you might have some subconscious memories that your body reacts to.

Absolutely. It's called Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and the best example of those who suffer from it would be war veterans, especially from the Vietnam era.
It also has become apparent that sexual assault victims suffer from it nearly 100% of the time.

I don't think so. I've suffered from beng beaten up in the past, but my mind does not remember it. It was too traumatic.
Love your question by the way.
