I know it's unhealthy but I just want to know how much weight you'd lose if you starved yourself for two weeks. Nothing but water, diet soda, & slim milk. Thanks

The beginning is plagued with headaches, continuous nausea, and sometimes a bit of hypersensitivity. For the first few days you would lose as much as 3-4 pounds a day, but after that, your body would resort to retaining as much energy as possible. Weight loss would go down to maybe a pound a day after that initial stage, maybe less, and you would feel very lethargic. Your heart would be trying to rest as much as it could, so just sitting up at a regular pace could make you pass out. Sometimes the heart can fail, if put under stress. Diet soda would only aggravate your body's attempts to function with such a low input of energy. It would put some strain on the kidneys, as it is a diuretic, meaning you would need to urinate more. Not good at a time when your body should be holding onto fluids in case of dehydration. (You get water from food too!) When the two weeks were over, you would have to eat slowly and very little at first, because your digestive system would be "asleep" and too much at once could be very dangerous, to the point of shocking your system. The overall weight loss may be around twenty pounds, however, the weight would regulate very quickly as the body was reintroduced to proper nutrition. Your body would be in "recovery mode", not "thank God I have a slimmer waist" mode.

Our bodies are equipped with the ability to survive lengthy fasts, but it is not a joy ride. It is a survival mechanism. It shouldn't be used as a tool for weight loss -- it is simply not worth the danger and the unpleasant experience. If you want to lose weight, do your body a favor and start by eating right (don't confuse dieting fads with healthy eating, either) and getting exercise. When we humans were in hunter-gatherer societies, we were getting as much as 70% vegetation vs. 30% meat, and to get that food, we could walk five or six miles a day or more. (In terms of brute strength, we humans are the weaklings of the animal kingdom, but we have the endurance to outwalk practically anything!) We are stone-age bodies living in the space age, as some texts put it. Pay attention to your body's signals, and go by what feels healthy rather than what just says healthy on the label. Do your body -- and yourself -- a favor and don't look for quick fixes. It takes a while to put yourself into an unhealthy state, and it takes a while to pull yourself back out. Stone age vs. space age, remember that. Just because we can race through our lives at eighty miles an hour, it doesn't mean that our bodies can. So take it easy and again, just listen to your body's signals when it comes to what to eat and what to avoid.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Get started today!

Two weeks is about the time it takes to starve to death with no food going in. Are you really willing to die? Ok, you are working out thats good, just cut out some of your food intake. Some not all. Eat less sugar and processed fats. If you have an issue with feeling hungry all the time. Then fast to shrink your stomach down, but only for a weekend. No more then 3 days, and you need to drink lots of water. Eat 2 small meals and then a bigger one with 2 snacks a day. Aim for about 1200-1500 calories a day, with your work out and your normal body functions you should burn 1600-2000 which will cause you to lose weight healthily without dieing.

you wouldnt die or end up in the hospital as long as you drank CRAZY amounts of water. and since a lb is 3500cal (about that) it would depend on your basal metabolic rate, and how succesfull you were at keeping your metabolism up because your body would go into starvation mode, your body is very smart and knows when you are messing with it. but say that your bmr is like, 2000 cal then you would burn those plus any activity (everything you do burnes calories) but 20lbs is a bit of an overexageration, that would be 5000 cal burned a day, to keep your metabolism up that high and work out on no food at all would be very difficult if not imposible. if you lost that much weight it would probably be water and maybe mucle if you have no fat, and in that case you would be in the hospital with severe dehydration i would guess, except if you are extreamly heavy then 20lbs is achievable, but for people of more normal weights it is a crazy high number

Less than you would if you did it right. When you stop eating your metabolism slows down, and slows down to a point where it nearly stops. You will feel like ****. You will not lose much weight. You will look terrible. Better yet, eat 3 small meals a day to keep your metabolism up and run or jog for a continuous 25-45 minutes.

Skim milk counts as eating something, it still has calories. And you wouldn't lose very much in two weeks, because your body would go into starvation mode. As soon as you starting eating again in the third week, it would all come back.

you wouldn't lose any amount of measurable fat. starving the body pretty much completely shuts down the fat burning process. you will lose mostly water and muscle before fat when the body is in starvation mode.

stored fats are the most efficient source of energy that the body has, it saves them for last and will utilize all available energy from carbohydrates (glycogen) and amino acids (muscle proteins) first before tapping into fat stores.

this is the most basic function of human metabolism
