Well, they were raised poorly, to not thank a woman for doing anyhting at all for a man is rude and ungentlemanly, its too bad that you have an unresponsive man to cook for, maybe, he just doesnt like what you make and he eats it anyway, but even so, he should say thank you for the meal

My husband does.....
He knows that if I put forth the effort, he should (and does) appreciate it. Of course, he knows not to expect it, so the positive reinforcement is only in his favor.
My brother-in-law on the other hand, thinks women should just cook and enjoy it. We're not sure where he learned his chauvinistic ways...there were five boys in the family, none of them were raised that way. They all can do their own laundry, cook, clean...and they do. Not him...guess that explains why he is divorced, and dumped again by his ex-wife when they recently got back together.
So....tell whoever it is you are cooking for that this is a GESTURE not a responsibility.

Yes, men will said thank you or that was very good meal when you cook for them. I haven't fail to tell a woman who had cook meals for me. Matter of fact I would ask what time should I come back for more.
Was this a basic meal that you cook for them?

If they can't be bothered to say thank you, and clean up the dishes after the meal. Then they may be men of a sort, but they most certainly are not gentlemen.
Don't cook for them.

Yes, I think they do (unless you're a horrible cook, and then they might make a lot of excuses to never eat your cooking again) But if they keep coming back for more, or say "what's for dinner?" then they do enjoy it. It makes them feel cared for.
My husband is way too polite to say he doesn't like something I made, he will just say "thanks, I got full" but if he likes it, he will say "thanks babe, that was great". I know the difference, LOL.
