Why could Imus be fired for saying something stupid? and a young black woman that truly did ruin the lives of young white men suffer no punishment?
I pray that theLord give me the strength to over come the anger I feel over this.

Because freedom of speech only goes one way dear.
Black people can get on any form of media and say all sorts of racists things about whites (hispanics do the same for that matter) but cry foul when it turns back on them.
Don't believe me? Listen to black and hispanic stand up comics for an example. Most of their stuff is about white people - and not in a flattering. You know us crackers are supposed to have a sense of humor.
I don't agree with what Imus said - but it is free speech. I think the players are taking it too far. They whine and moan about having their moment stolen.
They let that happen. They took it away from themselves. They allowed someone else's comments destroy their lives. I'm sorry but it's their fault. Period. Why let someone take away your glory?
I am tired of being having it go both ways. Everytime I flip the station on the TV I hear some slur against white people. The best way to end racism is to stop it coming out of your own mouth first.
And by the way - Imus didn't start the converstation which lead to his comments. His guest did. I don't see anyone jumping up and down about the man he was interviewing at the time that had a mouth full of these slurs. Only Imus is blamed.

I'm incensed that she is not being charged with anything. Not only should she be charged for what she did to those men, but she should be charged for the type of damage she's doing to REAL rape victims, who have a hard enough time getting heard and being taken seriously as it is. It is a travesty of justice that she's being let off. I don't care if she has emotional issues. That's no excuse for what she did.
And I'm glad that Imus is being fired. Those were lovely, smart, hard-working girls that didn't deserve the public humiliation that he put them through. It's about time someone took a stand against these idiot celebrities who spout off hateful, ignorant, racist remarks, and then turn around like, "Oooops, my bad...", and then hire Al Sharpton or a local Rabbi to try to make themselves look better and get themselves out of the mess. Imus, Mel Gibson, Michael Richards...they're all a bunch of jerks.

That almost happened several times for ratings. It was a good excuse. I agree with you in principle, but there was more to the story on the Imus side.
The biggest problem with the Duke case was the DA, not the accuser. This should have gone away as soon as the DNA results came in.

NosNod,
It was not the fact the he said something stupid. It was the fact that he kept doing it over and over again. I do not know the lady that you are speaking about but it is possible that what she said may have been correct and she recanted the story for some other reason. In any case, without more information, we do not know the facts behind it. You should not get too upset about news events since they delete whatever they want to so that you always get their view rather than the whole story. Have a great evening.
Thanks,
Eds

Because this country allows black people to be racists. Apparently anyone who is not black must be punished for saying anything negative against black people. Yet their hip hop culture is all about degrading ignorant "****%#s" and "hos". They argue about the sufferings of black slaves but most of them know nothing about what the slave trade was all about or general american history. They now follow great leaders like Al Sharpton, perhaps the most racist of all, and many of them really believe that white people are out to get them. They should just take their welfare checks provided by white people and shut the hell up.

Neither is right....let go of the anger, beat up a pillow if you need to...holding on to it is like drinking poison and expecting them to die from it. Pray about a way for you to make a difference in situations like this. Sometimes it just takes one person saying we won't stand for this....look at Rosa Parks.

Do you want to actually provide an example of how a young black woman has ruined the lives of young white men? I haven't seen any yet.

He was wrong for what he said, but should be forgiven(even if he is not sincere).
Al and Jesse could use this opportunity to rather glorify God by forgiving, than to pursue any other cause or agenda.
