Masturbation is done to satisfy lust. Jesus spoke against lust in Matthew 5:28
Also, for a man to "spill his seed" purposely (outside of intercourse) is a sin. Read the story of Onan at Gen. 38:9
Despite what some are saying the story of Onan is VERY important because it shows that God punishes us when we treat sex disrespectfully. Onan deliberately spilled his semen so he would not impregnate a woman even though conceiving a baby is what is SUPPOSED to happen when people have sex.
God was displeased because Onan was taking the pleasure from sex and throwing away the purpose of sex.
This is what masturbation is. It's taking pleasure from sexual acts apart from the way God intended - man and woman together in intercourse.

I don't think the story of Onan works though. I think the christians who quote it are taking it out of context.

I'm assuming that you meant "masturbation".
The Bible actually does not mention the act of masturbation. Life-hating Christians interpret some passages (such as the part where Onan ****** his dead brother's wife, pulled out, and "spilled his seed" on the ground, and God got pissed and killed him) as forbidding masturbation, but there is no part that says "do not masturbate".
