the stetson is worn in air cav units also however cav scouts that are in airborne units sf units etc wear the beret Maroon for airborne tan for ranger green for sf and black for normal cav units etc when not showing off . The stetson is only worn in blues parades etc we also wore ours when coming back to the states one time and my battle buddy seemed to wear his all the time even in Iraq lol. ....... All soldiers in airborne units wear a maroon beret. You have to be assigned to a unit that is on jump status to wear the maroon beret. Just being airborne qualified, doesn't mean anything., Your have the 82nd Airborne 173 rd RCT 4th Brigade, 25th Infantry TF 160 Then alot of smaller units, like pathfinger units, and other airborne battalions in support 2. IE: you do NOT wear a maroon beret, just because you went to airborne school.

The Armor or Tank Units...Calvary wear the traditional head cover...it might be a Stetson...

It all depends on the unit and the commanders discretion. I have seen all manner of things.
