Okay so about 6 months ago we took in a homeless white cat. I thought it would be cool and our other cats would just deal with him and learn to tolerate him....well...that really has not happened. White cat (thats his name or Arctic) is a big boy now and likes to start fights. I now have to keep my little baby girl cat in my room because he likes to lunge and attack her when he can. He also does the lunge deal with our cat Orangie. I think it may have to do with the fact that Orangie has no claws in the front so may be its a territorial / man cat thing? Our last cat Lucky tolerates Arctic, but hisses whenever he is by him. Whats weird is that before Arctic, we took in Orangie because he too was a stray cat. Piper (my baby girl) instantly took him in as her "boyfriend" and Lucky tolerates him as well. Its just with Artcic (whew wee) tension everywhere. Whats the deal with this cat and will things get better because Piper is terrified of him. What do I do?

He could be deaf. My white cat Drusilla is deaf and every time she see one of my other cats she growls and hiss, thus my other cats think she is ready to fight and off they go. We are running to the bedroom 4-5 times a day to stop fights between them. It is the only way she knows how to communicate with them is to growl because she is scared and thinks they are going to harm her.

I agree with Alice K, the best thing is to get him neutered. At this moment in time the is too much testosterone going round his body, and he has suddenly grown and he is just pushing his weight around.

Once he has been neutered then this should calm him down, and it will also help your baby girl, as the reason why she is terrified is that the 'intimacy' between they be getting too much.

You can also get some plug in diffusers that let of a scent that calms cats down, so this might be worth a try as well.

Anyway, good luck.

First, you don't indicate if any of the cats are spayed or neutered. That would be my first step. Second, it would seem that you might have too many cats for this environment. Some cats simply don't like crowds. You may need to find a good home for the more dominant one.

I had that same problem before it's because he wants to be the only cat in your house. Plus you found him so he not used to all this new stuff give him a couple of Chances. I would keep them away for now until you get your cat calm down don't wanna take a risk of your cat getting hurt now.

That may be the reason that you found him outside.. I would get a different litter boxs for the new male cat.. I would give them a little more time and if it still is not working then you might have to take him to an animal shelter..

I have 11 cats. All of my boys are fixed. No-one is allowed to fight in my house. That does not mean that they do not try. I call them by name and tell them to stop and they will most times stop. If not, I walk right up to them and do it again. Never try to come between them. They may feel you favor one over the other and fight all of the time. I had this problem with Fluffy. Now I just stand close and tell him no, and he listens.

Have Arctic neutered immediately. I had the same problem with my boys. Got them fixed and now nobody fights and nobody squirts. Thank GOD!

And bless you for taking in a homeless baby.

yeah i picked up a couple of stray kittens one time, had neutered, but still don't get along with original cats, so keep in separate room, one cat book said to put a baby barrier (you know those wire mesh barriers you put so babies don't wander around) and let the cats see each other through barrier and get used to each other, but mine still don't get along too well, they're all very friendly and affectionate with me, but i think when kitten was a stray too many cats attacked him, why brought him inside, would sit outside door wanting to come in because neighbors didn't neuter their cats and would fight, he got a scratched eye one time and cold and rainy and was waiting outside so brought in (didn't before because have to keep separate at first too to make sure nothing wrong with him, could give other cats), but once neutered shouldn't let outside anyways, cause won't always defend themselves and will run away if outside neighbors' cats chase, just gotta put in another room with litter box or put those baby toddler barriers, cause sometimes think all cats want to attack them if had been stray, cause so many cats probably did attack them, so if bring inside they try to attack first, cause think indoor cats might attack them

you should get a good Cat Care book

Cat fights are worse. adult adult males will strive against a lot extra honest then women persons. once a petty woman receives ahold of the different woman's hair and would not let flow is the 2d that lady protecting the hair loses.
