Thought this name meant lion of God? Also For Love of God?
Are both meanings correct?

I'm pretty sure that's "Lion of God".
The famous fable "The lion and the mouse"
is Haari v'ha achbar in Hebrew.

Ariel [אריאל] is a masculine name in Hebrew. It means "lion of god":
ari [ארי]= lion
el [אל]= god

Ari - lion
El - one of the names of God.

Nothing in Ari to suggest Love. Just Lion.
