I've been thinking about giving up the rat race, buying a nice RV and seeing America, I could work when I need money, live in my RV and be on permanent vacation.......anyone ever done this?...what are the pros and cons?....

I haven't but I want to in a few years when the kid is grown and gone. One good thing is workamping, you can work a few days a week for either salary or in trade for your rent at the campground/campsite, make sure you choose your hame base state wisely some don't have income tax but have other ways of taking your money, I think that solar panels make "drycamping" easier as does a generator but those are loud and take gas. There are good things and bad the down side is finding a relaible mail forwarding service. Not having a house for all your stuff, not having a lot of room if your a pack rat. Not having a place to have christmas, thanksgiving, ect. but you get to see all the sites and you can stay in your own bed each night. Good luck have fun and enjoy you only live life once.

I favor i ought to do this, i'm form of jealous. I regarded into it when I very last moved yet i became going to be table certain, it became better of a challenge of possessing a roof over my head instead of renting. What I got here up with became that finished blown RVs are expensive to maintain, so much better than only say a %.-up and a fifth wheel and if God forbid something were to take position for your residing situation, it ought to compromise the completed RV as against only the %.-up or fifth wheel.

We have a pair of friends whose husband quit his job, sold their house and bought an RV - and THEN told his wife! She had to retire and now they go all over the country seeing everything but they have no "home" anymore. They live in their kid's driveways when they visit, it is weird... But they enjoy it. However, the woman, Stella, is a bit bitter about how her husband handled their retirement transition.

I say do it but make sure you inform your family beforehand lol
