that is what the Jehovah witness's say, but it does refer the 12,000, virgins from the 12 tribes of Israel.
so why are there more than 144,000 Jehovah witness's?

I'm really glad you asked!
If Revelation 7 is to be taken literally, there would only be 144,000 Jewish male virgins taken from a square shaped earth that are now in heaven worshipping a sheep.
Even if it was to be taken literally, there would be more than 144,00 people going to heaven. Revelation 4:4 also mentions other 24 elders so, according to math, the number would be bumped up to 144,024!
Since this is NOT true, the bible tells us that many more will enter Heaven (Rev 7:9) and hence is opened to everyone "from every nation, race, people, and tongue".
So be faithful because you have much of a chance of entering heaven as the holiest :)
God bless!

It doesn't say that anywhere in my NIV Bible. Or KJV. Or NKJV or any similar to those. I mean, seriously, it doesn't. and no matter how bad we are God still accepts us. Check out this link because I certainly don't have all the answers:

P.S. I've never heard anybody in a baptist church say anything about 144 thousand people. There isn't any "right" denomination, just find a church who is serving God and whose belief system agrees with the Bible, which may be the church you're already going to. and don't listen to those other people who say being a Christian is just about believing!! "19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that--and shudder." James 2:19

There's no need to be scared. The 144,000 is something that the Mormons made up. If you truly believe the Bible, then you will know that ALL people have the chance to go to Heaven.......if you've accepted Jesus Christ into your heart. He died for all not just the "chosen few." My pastor read a Christian pamphlet on this very thing last night. It's not true. If you really love God you WILL go to Heaven.

Dear beloved child of God,
That is NOT what the Bible says.
That is NOT what the Author of life says.
That is NOT what your heavenly Father says.
That is merely what the Watchtower Witnesses say.
They merely have a man-made religion.
You should not be scared for yourself
IF you have accepted Jesus Christ
as your LORD and Savior.
Do read the Bible because I am quite sure that you will find as have I that it is the best thing to do. Read especially Deuteronomy 18:20-22. It tells us how we may know if somebody or organization is speaking God's word or is merely a FALSE prophet.

The 144,000 you refer to from the book of Revelation is talking about sealed Jews who realize at that time that Jesus is the Messiah and become the end-day evangelists after the Church is raptured out of here. It does not mean that no one else can be saved or that the 144,000 are the only ones who will go to heaven. Scripture clearly talks about other tribulation saints other than those 144,000. And yes it is a Jehovah's Witness doctrine that the 144,000 are the only ones who will go to heaven. But it is NOT Scriptural.

Not true! Don't be scared. This # represents 144,000 Jews chosen by God to go out into the World during the Tribulation period on earth to preach the gospel. It's in the book of Revelation. What you are saying is the Jehovah Witnesses belief, which is why they are so anxious to go door to door as they do. The Lord wants everyone to live with Him in Heaven, but unfortunately, the road is narrow to heaven......but not that narrow!! And remember, The Lord did not give us a spirit of fear. Live in your blessed assurance and share it with others! God bless.

The Bible says something else: "It says whosoever will may come". That is what the historic Christian church teaches. The JW's and other groups on the other hand teach that only 144,000 get into heaven. If you look in the book of Revelation, they are virgin Jewish males with 12,000 from each tribe.

I think you are referring to the Jehovah's Witness doctrine, which personally I do not believe as I am not a JW, but if you were to assume that the JWs were correct just for the sake of argument then it is still not scary as they believe other good believers will be resurrected to Paradise here on Earth. It isn't a case of 144,000 go to heaven and the rest to hell.

The 144,00,are God's elect that have the seal of God in there forhead. Many will make it to heaven, not just the 144,000. Also God never created anyone that He didn't want to live forever. ALL names are written in the Book of Life, but some are coming out.

The humbers 7 and 12 to Hebrews were good numbers. Genesis states God created the world in 6 days and rested on the 7th. There were 12 tribes of Israel. 12 x 12 = 144 good, 144,000 very very good.
The number 6 was something incomplete and therfore evil. Therefore 666 is something very very evil.
