My cousins and I saw the movie "Flags of our Fathers". Our mutual Uncle who died in 1987 served in the South Pacific during WWII. He never married nor had any children. Like many WWII veterans, he did not talk much about the war, but I remember my Mother saying that he left as a boy and came back old. She didn't say this like it was a good thing. We would like to know more about where he was stationed, what battles he was in, etc. I went out on the Veterans Administration website, but didn't see any way to track a relatives way record. Can anyone out there help?

By the way, all of the relatives who may have known something have all passed away.

Check with the local V.F.W. They can get you pointed in the right direction. You will need some info on your uncle though to start. SS#, DOB, Dates of Service, Service Branch. If you have his DD214 (discharge papers) they will provide a lot of the info you want.
One thing to remember. A lot of Military records were lost in 1973 due to a fire at the National Personnel Records Center.
You can try the National Records Center. The link is below.
Also the National Archives...that is the second link...Good luck in your search

Have your mother or other immediate family member write their congressman requesting the record. A copy of his DD Form 214 or discharge papers and death cert will need to be included. One set of medals can also be obtained by an immediate family member. Hope this helps.

hmm sounds like she doesnt need to have a baby.. I would not recommend sending a baby on an airplane alone and if she would like to send her I would say hire a nanny to fly and bring the baby. If she really cant deal alone it may be better for the baby to be with the grandparents

not sure but I think you can find out through the branch of service he was in, ie: dept of Army. navy , etc. Another idea , go to a local VFW, I'm sure they can direct you to the right place, almost positive they can help
