I think you might mean kennel cough. It's very contagious around other dogs, so avoid contact with other dogs while she has it. If it is treated, it is not deadly at all. Usually the vet will prescribe some antibiotics, and as long as you follow all the instructions and finish the pills, your pup will be just fine. A lot of young puppies get it due to crowded situations and lack of immunity. You can get an annual vaccination for this, and many places where dogs gather require it (such as boarding facilities, puppy classes, and dog parks) Just give your pup the meds and all should be well. In relatively healthy animals, it's just an annoying cough as long as it's being treated and should go away soon. Good luck!

Get the pup to a vet. It is treatable, although also highly contagious. It is also more serious in puppies than adult dogs. Depending on the severity, treatment may consist of either just dealing with the symptoms, or more agressive antibiotics and/or steroids.
Symptoms usually last 10-14 days although the dog will continue to be contagious for a few weeks afterwards.
The proper term for this canine disease is Bordatella; Kennel Cough is the common name. So called because it spreads like wildfire through dogs in a kennel or boarding situation. That being said, a dog does not have to have been kennelled to contract it; it is believed to be caused by an airborne virus. It can also be contracted by humans who are immune-suppressed.
Immunizations can prevent it; however it is like getting a flu shot - sometimes the vaccine does not provide immunity to the particular strain. The vaccine is either injected or given as a squirt up the nose (both nostrils)
Vets usually give the vaccine once a year; at the doggie daycare and boarding faciliy where I work we require the dogs to have it every 6 months, because it is so contagious.

Hi there:
It is called kennel cough. If your puppy has it, he is very contagious so don't have him/her around other dogs. There are two things you can do. You need to take him to a vet so he can get antibiotics. kennel cough is kind of like humans having a bad cold. After he is cured you can then get him/her vaccinated against getting it again. It is very contagious and that is why the name: Kennel cough as dogs who are in close proximity can get it very easily. I would not say that it is deadly but if it goes untreated your puppy can get very ill and have difficulty breathing. I have a dog too and I do get her vaccinated every year. Most boarding places for dogs will recommend that you have this vaccine before they will take your dog.
Hope that helps and good luck!

Ha! Ha! I think you mean *kennel* cough. Ahhh...that was a good laugh.
Go to the vet for antibioltics and keep an eye on his appetite and hydration to make sure its normal.
It's a viral infection so you just need to let the dog ride it out. The antibiotics are to prevent any secondary infection. The dog will carry the viral infection and when its immune system is comprimised, you will start to see symtoms again (coughing, discharge from the eyes and nose). If that happens its time to go back to the vet. Probably won't come up again unless the dog gets sick for some other reason.
No worries. Very common for shelter dogs and dogs that board or go to doggie day care.

True Kennel Cough is a self limiting illness. It usually goes away by itself within 3 weeks. If the cough becomes to annoying and prevents the dog from resting the vet can prescribe a cough medication.
Only your vet can diagnose if it is really kennel cough or something that may be more serious such as canine influenza that may need more treatment.

Kennel cough is a viral infection though their are vacccines to prevent they only offer protection against common strains so if the recieves a vaccine and is exposed to a dog that has a different strain than the vaccine covers thay can still get, much like the way the flu vaccine works for humans.
Yes in dogs with weak immune systems it can kill in a way it is much like the human flu, younger dogs get hit the hardest , so dog should be seen by the vet they can precribe meds if needed to help relieve the symptoms

Kennel cough. Before the dog goes to a kennel the dog should go to the vet for a shot that will prevent it. But you can take the dog now and it should be fine.

Its actually called keNNel cough not keTTle cough(not to be rude though)
Kennel cough or tracheobronchitis is a highly contagious canine illness characterized by inflammation of the upper respiratory system. It can be caused by viral infections such as canine distemper, canine adenovirus, canine parainfluenza virus, or canine respiratory coronavirus, or bacterial infections such as Bordetella bronchiseptica.[1] It is so named because the infection can spread quickly among dogs, such as in the close quarters of a kennel.
