Why must so many people use this section, intended to be used for the purpose of aiding others learn about religions, to instead vent or express their hatred or dislike of other beliefs and their practices/practitioners?
what makes your imaginary friend and/or set of theories and ideals better than mine or everybody else's!?
What is keeping us all from acting like the adults that we are?
While on this topic, i must ask, why must we use this program like a forum to express spirituality when it is obviously not intended to be used as such?

What? I thought it was the religion & SPIRITUALITY section. Why do you think it is not intended to express spirituality when that is the title?

I'm going to hazard that the ones who are venting are the ones whose religious beliefs include the notion that theirs is the only true one and all others are evil.

The other end of the dichotomy includes those people who think that all opinions are of equal value and that it's wrong to critique, examine, or challenge anyone.

I personally think it's a sign of respect to ask challenging questions about faith--one's own as well as others'--and I agree with Harlan Ellison that not every opinion deserves respect, only those opinions that are informed and considered.

I've tried starting a Yahoo! group recently to explore religious issues in a polite, intellectual climate; I invite all to visit.

You're right.
It's exhausting and frustrating and simply breeds discontent or outright anger. Apparently, we answer more questions about the spirit/spirituality of being human by picking fights here, than the actual forum answers do...Interesting phenomenom.
Thanks for bringing it up - the few people that see the problem and post about it (in a nonconfrontational way, like yours) create hope that we aren't still primitive beings on modern devices...

They started it. LOL

Had to say that.

In all honesty I agree with most of what you are saying. However I do see a positive aspect to someone venting in this virtual world rather then in reality were they could do something stupid.
Saying something stupid here is one thing and it can be easily ignored. In the real world stupid actions tend to have bigger consequences!

To answer your Question (can't spell your name, under you Avatar!), Speak for yourself!
I will always try to remain Child Like! (no comments please).
Jesus said, if you do not become as little children, you can't enter into the Kingdom (this does not refer to getting Saved and going to Heaven).

Really, I don't ever want to lose child like or laughter again! Ain't no Fun!
Ditto..........

Excuse me, but I believe the section actually has the word "spirituality" in it.

Some people receive delight in picturing who, in their own ignorance, they think is going to hell.

Isn't that why they invented religion? Or am I confusing it with Comedy Central?
