I just downladed a 40 second video from my digital camera and I want to email it but it is 10.2mb and I need it to be 10mb or under....

Any suggestion on ow to compress it?

What type of file is it? Is it a MPEG video?
Oh well, I'll assume so....
You need a video converter program. The one I use is free, but kinda complicated.
To shrink your video, you could lower the video resolution, lower the sound quality, and/or lower the bit speed rate of the video.
In all cases, the video will be degraded, but that's just the way it is.....Well, if the video is in MPEG1 or MPEG2, you could convert the video to a video type with better compression like MPEG4, but there's less compatibility; Some video playback programs might not support MPEG4 or your friends might not have an MPEG4 codec.

You can't compress a video with media player. you need to compress the file into rar file.

windows media player give more havoc than real etc so according to pcmag peeps use vlc player ( on line) free but nero is good get rid of media and also u need to use winzip to compress

you can upload the whole file using gspace which is an extension of firefox that makes your 2 GB of gmail space into an online external hard drive

or u could probably use tmpgenc to convert it to mpeg1 .. depends on the format u have it in now .. or u may be able to split it with somthing like virtualdub ...

think you'll have to get some compression software. most are not costly
