My brother just started living with a woman on a military base. Do they have to be married? And how about being able to bring his kids on the base with him, possibly overnight? What policies does the military have that govern these types of situations?

The only way that I know of where a civilian can live in base housing is if he or she is married to a military member.

If they are not married she has to contact post housing and let them know he is there as a visitor, they will allow him to stay 30 days and that is it unless they are married.. Is she married? or is she in the Military? cause that could cause a Lil problem..ok

the polices per say that govern this type of situation is called the nosey lady next door that is going to call housing when she finds out he is living there.. The women can get into alot of trouble, when she signs for the house she signs for her and her children that is it.. It is basically like breaking your lease.. she can lose onpost housing and get in trouble with her unit..

I am taking this as she is in the Military tho, and not married to one of the military men which happens alot too

He can and will go to court Martial for this....all of it. He cannot shack up with her on base or off if he is still legally married. She cannot stay overnight on base with him. He needs to be providing housing for his wife and children until they are divorced and if he is living in base housing alone he is again wrong. He needs to start collecting BAH and send that to her for her housing costs and he needs to move into the barracks or pay his own way out in town. If he has kids they can stay with him overnight on base but he needs to follow base guidelines for that too. What's his name,,,I would love to turn him in since he has such blatant disregard for the military and its regulations. He will be sorry when one of his buddies or co-worker nark's him off.

tell your brother to stay away from this women until he finds out her circumstances. is she living in base house because of kids? he can not stay on base with her

if your brother is a lifer his career is over. and if he is married waiting for a divorce so is half of his retirement pay i have seen it happen.
then what are their ranks if she an officer or hes and officer or if ones and enlisted it just bad news

uh..yeah, they are supposed to be married to be living together. he must be in a situation where he has been divorced and has significant amount of custody of his kids in order to have housing on post cause that is the only situation in which one could have housing without living with your spouse. housing on a military post is only for those who are married or have custody in a specified amount of time during the year. anyways...yeah, they should be, or in other words supposed to be, married to be living together on post in military family housing. if he lives in the barracks that's a whole other situation!

Shacking up, eh? In base housing he's not entitled to? He can end up barred from entering the base and she can face disciplinary action.

What base by the way?

Because he has children he is entitled to live in base housing but I don't think she is allowed to,for her to be entitled to military rights and privileges, and living on base is one of them she has to be married to the serviceman.
