I am sorry to hear of your mother in law....my mon passed from cancer 20 yeas ago at the age of 57. But it's great to hear that other members of your family are recovering.

As to your question. My apologies if you have already done these but some ideas.

Contact your daughter's school and see if entire classes (6, 7,8th grades) or class rooms in your daughters grade (and other grades) will sponsor you and your daughter. As you know it doen't have to be much...every dollar (or pound if you're in the UK....you use mum so maybe) helps. Something as little as $10.00 per class will motivate the kids and teachers in the classes.

Or perhaps the PTA of her school will be a sponser. If there are other PTA members in the race....share.

If you work outside the home you can always approach the personnel department. I have worked for companies that will match other donations or give a donation outright for the right cause. And cancer...how can that not be a right cause.

Approaching your co-workers can always be tricky and I would leave that as a ffinal option...but you know your co-worker, I don't.

Have you already approached local business...especially those located on the route that the run will cover? You can entice them by offering to place a thank you listing all the sponsors in the local paper...of course you'll have to pay for it and you would have to decide if the donations you receive warrant the cost.

And this is a long shot but I have done this..but if there is a local radio station in the area? You can approach them to do a live remote somewhere along the route and have them, ask them, to mention each of the local business who sponsor you at least once during the remote. You obviously would want to get the radio station on board and to agree to mentioning the business names first....and then contact the business.....that's the hook to get the business on board. Also...at least in the US radio startions are required by federal law to provide free PSAs...Public Service Announcements....which the stations can meet their requirement mentioning your race and the business.

OK...that's about all I can think of at the moment. If I think of something else I'll add it to this posting.

Good luck to you and your daughter.
