Sorry, what is your question?
I have a spanador (cocker spaniel lab x). We payed $350 (NZD) for her. We had been to the SPCA for almost 18months trying to look for the perfect size/ temprement dog for our lifestyle and we still couldn't find one.
My auntie has a labradoodle (Lab poodle x). She payed over $1000(NZD) for her dog. My auntie has very high allegy levels and she wanted a dog of a lab nature but one that she would not be allergic to.
Each to there own. We choose our pets for individual reasons.

I never understood this either. People pay big money for mutts. Now, don't get me wrong, mutts can be great pets, but I believe it's unethical to purposely breed mutts. If a person wants a mixed breed, there are plenty needing adopted at animal shelters.
I believe that breeding should only be done to better the breed and produce high-quality animals that are up to breed standard. If a person has sub quality dogs (mutt or purebred), those dogs should not be purposely bred.

I'm not a big fan of the whole designer dog fad either, but mostly because it creates more indiscriminate breeding. And yeah, you can buy a pure bred dog for the same kind of money (it may not be that nice) but you can also find all kinds of pure bred, breeder throw aways at the pound. The puppy mills breed and breed and breed and then dump the puppies that don't get sold in animal shelters or they just sell to anyone who gets bored with the dog and dumps it (I have a beautiful border collie I got from my local animal control that was an "owner surrender"). I'm sure the designer dog people will do the exact same thing.

That is one of my peeves, I just do not get why someone would spend so much on a mutt or why they would believe the lies that are told about designer dogs. Even when they have proven that these dogs do shed and they are not healthier people still seek out these mutts. I guess while there is a demand we are not likely going to see an end to designer dogs. So if you find out why let us all know.

It cracks me up too. But as long as famous people pay $2000 for a mutt, there will be people breeding them. This is the reason you see so many designer dogs in the pound. I won't buy a dog from anyone. I have 3 dogs now. 1 I went to the shelter and got, the other one a Chi-weenie was hiding in the bushes in my yard. Poor thing was scared to death and severely underweight. Brought her in cleaned her up and took her to see if she had a microchip. She did and when the owners were called, they said we don't want her, leave us alone. How sad is that. The last dog we got from friends that could no longer keep her.
All mutts that were doomed for death at the pound. Thank God for the people that save them.

People need to be educated about what "designer dogs" really are. They are fed so much bull about designer breeds and hypoallerginic dogs and they are gullible enough to believe what the so called breeders say. It is okay if you want a mixed breed dog, but you shouldn't have to buy one, specially for the jacked up prices these dogs are selling for. People should not be paid for deliberately creating mutts just to make money.

Because until people stop buying them , breeders will breed them. why they buy them I never know. I have talk to people who bought them and it never accrued to them that they were mutts they really believe that they were buying register designer dogs. They never really had a clue what they were buying were mutts. I like to take these people and choke them. Until people get smart on this breeders are going to make their money off of stupid people. Like my grandpappa once said to me there are the suckers and the suckies.. It is a shame but that is life. Until people wise up about these so call designer dogs they will always be here. Shame too.

When I saw a magazine at the pet food store about designer dogs I laughed. It's simple, they don't want the mutts a.k.a. heinz 57's feelings hurt. Plus more money can be made this way.

Every breed of dog was a "designer dog" at some point in it's development. There is absolutely nothing wrong with developing a new breed. But what is the reason for doing so??? Are you trying to develop a better "assistance dog"?? A better "retriever"?? Or just a more profitable mutt???

I guess its influence, stereotyped tradition and the fact that they are rare and their adorable character is unable to be resisted by many. Many designer dogs don't provoke allergies to people who are prone to dog allergies. Many of them don't shed a lot or at all either in comparison to naturally bred dogs. The same thing applied for objects like diamonds.

because people have the money to spend and want something specific. Plus, sometimes shelters can be very strict when it comes to give a dog away.
