christians talk in a rather poetical (not really meaning a lot with those "open your heart to god, listen to god´s voice or god send his son to save us from our sins" stuff).
Has christian religion been so "popular" throughout history because it is a quite undemanding religion?

The Christian religion is all about action: fake Christians are all about:... words... demonizing others... spreading hatred and bigotry... churching it on Sunday or holidays and then screwing around the rest of the week... calling people sinners... telling others they're going to hell... being right and making sure you know it... pretending a deep spirituality and faith at the expense of real compassion and caring... knowledge (usually limited and one-dimensional) at the expense of faith... being spiritually lazy and taking little effort in real internal change... looking like the real thing but acting like the fake one... etc.

Yes, it is true that my religion is BASED on words, however I believe that my ACTIONS speak louder than words. I am kind to people. I do not judge others, regardless of their beliefs, heritage, social status, etc. I do all that I can to help others and try not to boast... yeah, I can see where you would get that assumption. Just like all others on here who feel that they are categorized because of their beliefs, some of you also categorize Christians. I find being a Christian to be very demanding and sometimes stops me from doing things that others do, especially when I was a teenager. Looking back, I am glad that I made the decisions that I did... but back then I would not have said it was an easy choice to stand by MY beliefs and my God.

If practiced correctly, Christianity is the most demanding of all religions because it calls for us to obey Christ's commandments. He fed the hungry, healed the sick, comforted the brokenhearted, and laid down His own life for others. We're supposed to follow in His footsteps and do the same things that He did.

If your idea of faith is sitting in a pew and congratulating yourself and the rest of the congregation because you're going to Heaven, then there's something very wrong with your belief system. Faith without works is dead, and that's all that can be said about it.

Sounds like some of you haven't been paying attention. Christians spend much time and treasure feeding the poor, defending the helpless (unborn and senile), and generally showing people a better way to live. How do you suppose Mother Theresa got that Nobel prize?

You are a bit confused as the Book of James tells us that faith without works is dead...and also to be a doer of God's Word and not only a hearer.

However, if you were to realize that He DID send His Son to die for you, and really knew what this meant, then you WOULD "Open your heart to God" and WOULD be able to "Hear His voice".

it became "popular" by force, starting when a roman emperor was baptized and consolidated it into one church a couple centuries AD. Then the corruption started, and christianity became one of the big dogs after a couple dozen holy wars and crusades.

NOW, it's popular through undemanding-ness from today's christian leaders, who contradict the very scripture that they preach through the ways they live their lives.

Jesus saves us from our sins. He cleanse us from the inside out. He changes us & is there for us. That is action. Because He loves us, we love Him. And because we love Him, we trust & obey Him, and that takes action. Though you probably wouldn't see when we do something, God knows when we obey Him & do what the Spirit leads to do.

And if you think Christianity is undemanding, why did Jesus say, "Count the cost...". Christianity is giving ones all to Jesus. To pick up our cross & follow after Him.

what amazes me about this site is not the faith of the believers, but the hatred and vitrol of the agnostic/athiests. I mean, why should someone spend so much energy insulting people who believe in Santa Claus? I am a Christian, I try to do good, am not responsible for the crusades, witch burnings, etc, but if I choose to believe in the Easter Bunny or that the world is flat, what does it hurt you? Where is all this hate and ridicule coming from?

It's because many can talk the talk but damn sure can't walk the walk. I feel that if you're gonna preach something then you should at least practice what it is that you are preaching otherwise you're a hypocrite. By the way I'm not saying that you're a hypocrite.

Don't know what churches you have been hanging out at but if you are ever in bakersfield I'll point you to church that lives what it preaches and is full of action.
