Baptismal regeneration is the belief that a person must be baptized in order to be saved. It is our contention that baptism is an important step of obedience for a Christian, but we adamantly reject baptism as being required for salvation. We strongly believe that each and every Christian should be water baptized by immersion. Baptism illustrates a believer’s identification with Christ’s death, burial, and resurrection. Romans 6:3-4 declares, “Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? We were therefore buried with Him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” The action of being immersed in the water illustrates being buried with Christ. The action of coming out of the water pictures Christ’s resurrection.

If you haven't accepted Christ as your Savior by asking Him to forgive you your sins and be the Lord of your life, then your baptism is meaningless. Just joining a church doesn't make you a Christian, any more than sitting in a dog kennel makes you a beagle.

Jesus will become your Savior, but only if you ask Him to. Being baptized without making Him the Lord of your life is pointless.

If you aren't coming to it because you are led to be there in your heart, and someone is making you get baptized, all you will be is wet. You should get baptized if you feel in your heart that you have a relationship with God, that Christianity is an appropriate expression of it for you, and you wish to get baptized in order to join a church, and as a symbol of a covenenant you wish to make with the Christ. I am sorry to hear it if someone is forcing you to do something you really don't want to do. Showing up because someone made you doesn't make you Christian... ( I saw one of your other questions, you don't sound happy about it...)

Yes. "Becoming a Christian" is nothing that we can do on our own. It is the work of God the Holy Spirit, in the waters of the Dominical Sacrament (ordained by the Lord Himself) of Holy Baptism. It is a gift. A gift of God's grace. Even the very faith you have is a gift from God. (Ephesians 2: 8-9)

In the Sacrament of Holy Baptism, you are made a new creature, born again by water and the Spirit, made new and washed in the regeneration of Christ's Death and Sacrifice.

Being Christian means being a follower of Christ. Baptism is the contract(covenant) saying you are officially joined to Him and His church. Without proper priesthood authority baptism doesn't really mean or do anything. You also must be fully immersed.

If you are baptized by proper authority( someone who holds the priesthood of God and can trace their line of ordination all the way back to a prophet of God or Christ himself) Your previous sins will be washed away.

And if you are treating your baptism for what it is.

A covenant between you and the Lord. You promise to remember the Savior always and follow His commandments and He promises you the gift of the Holy Ghost.

No. The purpose of baptism is to demonstrate what God has done inside you already. Once you receive Jesus as your Saviour and decide to make Him Lord of your life you are a Christian; you have your salvation. In baptism, you are submerged under water, representing being buried, and are raised back up, in that you have died to the old self and been reborn a new person in Christ.

It is an instrumental confession of your faith. You may receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit then though. That is an awesome thing.

Depends on which denomination. Many believe one must be fully immersed in water, others are okay with sprinkling, for others, no form of baptism is necessary. Personally, I think it's optional. To me, it's ludicrous to think that God will turn someone away (if there is in fact a heaven) because he or she has not been dunked. I think God (or higher power) is really much more complex than that. But, that is only my opinion. I'm not going to try to convince anyone my way is the only way. Everyone must choose his or her own path.

No. you may be baptized but convert. Baptism shows commitment to Christ but later you may become a Muslim for example. It's all about belief. Baptism is like I said only a sign.

No. You will probably be wet. It Doesn't seem like you want to be a Christian. I would tell you it's a good thing, but nothing you do out of faith will count for poop.
