Well sure it does, whether I read the story or not. But I'll read it to be polite.

Yes, gossip does hurt the gossiper even though they may not realize it at the time. Gossip is a sibling of anger, a passion of the mind that can make one pile up karma (the law of cause and effect) rapidly if it is not controlled.
Many gossipers do not know it but they eventually suffer for their deeds, possibly at a time they cannot associate the suffering with their gossip. Jenny has a loving heart but she would have had more problems if she had passed on what she was told to another person.

Gossip usually hits deep. The topics that are "too good not to share" are generally ones that end up inflicting deep and cutting wounds to a person's inner being. And the betrayal almost always comes from someone close to the person affected. Gossip is bad enough when it comes from someone who is simply looking for a source of information they can share. But, when it begins with a trusted friend or someone who has been taken into a confidence, the betrayal cuts deep to the soul, making it even harder for the one on the receiving end to forgive. "A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much" (Proverbs 20:19).

Gossip is terribly destructive......That story goes to show that talking about others like that not only harms the people you are talking about, but harms the person who hears it, and has thier relationships colored by things they "heard"
