Probably has to do with people of this country automatically assuming that since you live in this country you must be a "default Christian." So it is assumed that your religion is "Christian" and the logical response is to give "Baptist, Lutheran, Roman Catholic..." as your religion.

When people ask me what my religion is I respond "Christian." If they ask for my denominational affiliation, then I will give "Lutheran" at that time.

There are slight differences in the beliefs and practices - and some tend to be more open-minded than others. I know people who say the specific kind of Christian they are because they don't want people to think they're Baptists. I don't really get why, but whatever.

The reason is because, that is their family belief! They believe in the literal or contextual version of the Christian bible. Even though it was developed into verses and theology by Catholics, each denomination sees it differently. So like your family, in your town, people eat dinner and do different things at different times, and have different ways to live their schedules. So does the Church. Christianity is a description of Christians collectively, but Christians are the followers with their particular version of the Bible and ways they apply it to their belief.

Don´t issue, only become extra in contact in the Church and you will not become upset. you are able to examine the lives of the saints, and notice in the event that they have been Christian or not. What´s extra, you have the entire of heaven on your factor. If Jesus had to help us on my own he would have completed so, yet we even have His mom, and all the saints, who of their lives additionally went in the time of the comparable trials like we did. working example, St. Thomas extra replaced right into a Chancellor in Britain who opposed the reformation and the King´s divorce. think of how puzzling it might have been for him to lose all of his sources and acquaintances because of the fact of that. yet he replaced into nevertheless chuffed because of the fact he knew that he replaced into doing the terrific ingredient. then you definately can examine the ZENIT information corporation to open your eyes slightly to something of the worldwide and the artwork the Church is doing. Or, am i able to recomend the recent devotions like the Divine Mercy, or the directionforourtimes messages. The extra you detect out regarding the Church the extra you will see which you have not something to tension approximately, and there is not something in the worldwide that would upset you, because of the fact Jesus is on the middle. enable the protestants acuse you, till they see which you at the instant are not upset, and you are the happiest person. ;)

In the US, at least, Christianity is culturally implied. So I'd imagine people are usually responding to the question that would follow their response of "Christian."
