The first thing to check is the wiring and connections at the subwoofer terminals. If the two voice coils are wired in opposite polarity, the amp will still send all its power but it won't produce much sound.

Also, how is your amplifier connected to the vehicle? If you're using a line-out converter or high-level inputs, then they might not be wired correctly to your factory speaker wires; this would cause the same problem as wiring the voice coils in opposite polarity. If you've kept the stock radio, and there are RCA plugs connected to your amplifier, unplug ONE of the RCA's and see how it affects the sub (at moderate volume). If the output increases, then you have a mis-wired line-out converter.

From what you're describing, I can guarantee that there's no chance at all of a new battery or capacitor solving your problem.

If you ever took precalculus or some other math class which covers properties of functions, you learn how to determine the domain of the function. One of the red flags to look out for is when you divide by zero. In your expression, when x = 3, the denominator is zero. Thus, the domain is every number beside 3. Unfortunately, the number you are trying to plug in (x = 3) is the only number that doesn't work in this function. To see this first hand, you0 can graph this function on a TI-83. If you zoom in on the point of the graph at x = 3, you will see that there is a blank spot there! That is because, as stated above, there just isn't a value of the expression at x = 3. You may say, well it looks like the answer should be 6, looking at the graph. This concept of what the answer "should be" is what limits are all about. The values of the function on the left and right of x = 3 all go towards 6 as you get closer and closer. So we say the limit as x goes to 3 is 6. So even though it is not technically the answer, 6 is your best choice. Zero is absolutely not correct in any sense. The very best answer is to say that the expression is undefined at x = 3. This problem illustrates why 0/0 is called indeterminate. In this problem, 0/0 in a way equals 6. The idea that 0/0 can equal anything is actually the essence of calculus.

A new capacitor or battery will do nothing. Your problem is more than likely your alternator. The alternators on civics are puny, around 30 or 40 amps. That's barely enough for a few hundred watts of current, let alone 1000.

first things first, sounds waves (especially bass notes) are created by a difference in air pressure. how are you going to produce an effective air pressure change with a hole in your box?

1000w amp + one sub + ported box + car trunk = disaster

seal your box with a block of wood and a few screws just to experiment. make sure your sub is facing the rear of your car (gives better resonance). 1000w on a 12 should sound good, but 1000w on two 12's would probably sound better.

put a 1 farad cap on it to solve the lights dimming. Is the box the wrong size? Is the frequency too low or too high. Adjust them with the volume 2/3 up until you get the response you want. Also check to see if the gain is up (about 1/2 way to start)
