i need to know like a dog is from the wolf family are they part of the pig family or what family are they part of?

they are not pigs, they are cavies, from the cavies family, cavies are the largest rodents and live in south america, not pigs

No. They are part of the rodent family. Some call them by their scientific name, "cavies."
There are many legends as to how the name "guinea pig" came about, and, at this point, I don't think we'll ever really know. Part of the speculation behind "pig" may be the various squeals and squeaks that make up part of their vocal repertoire.
