i have to go to a picnic lunch that day too and am wonder if i should eat my normal race day sandwich...turkey and cheese twice (for lunch and dinner) or if i should have something else
please help this race is gonna qualify me for regionals its really important!!!!

Well if the turkey and cheese sandwich works for you stick with it!! Or you could try having a small portion of pasta which will give you carbohydrates and some meat like chicken or fish for protein.Also make sure you're well hydrated.Drink plenty of water during the day

If you are running at 8, do not eat dinner, just maybe a snack at 4 or 5. Eat your normal lunch. You can have a good dinner after the race.

Eat light carbs that day and a tiny bit of meat. Plus loads of fruit is good. You could even eat very little. Which would be better than eating too much...... The most important thing is loads of carbs the night before- it loads the muscle full of food/energy...... Close to race time eat easily digestable stuff like fruit. It's also full of energy. And maybe eat glucose powder.

Tonight, eat something heavy that will convert into energy well. Then tomorrow for dinner before track eat the sandwich but makesure its light

Pasta does well for me the night before a run or a long bike ride

Spaghetti is good. You want carbohydrates, but you also don't want to do anything unusual. If you have been doing well on your turkey and cheese then stick with your proven formula for success.

A freind of mine runs the Chicago marathon and he loads up on pasta.
