Several years ago I received a postcard from a member of the church that I attend each Sunday; The post-card said something like the following: "I have been designated to pray for you for the next two weeks; if you have any specific prayer requests please see me on Sunday". The following Sunday I went up to her and I said "Yes I do have a specific prayer request; will you please pray and ask God to bring me a Wife". When she heard my requests she put both hands on her cheeks and said, "Oh My God! I Can't Handle This; No! Not Me! Ask Someone Else!". She walked away! I was profoundly dissappointed by her response. I sincerely believe that I was making a practical requests; she responded like my requests was coming from "Left Field", What is your explaination of this incident?

What a bummer! She should never have offered her services if she did not feel up to the task. All you were asking for was an intersession, anyone could do that!
Do you still need those prayers? I'll volunteer!

You blew it. You never ask for a prayer that maybe could have turned out. She could have said ok I'll marry you and she could have blamed it all on god.

Any time you ask a religious loon for a prayer, you make sure its one that can never happen. Like making your pecker bigger or regenerating a limb on an amputee. Then sit back and watch the
cop out excuses flow like a bad case of Montezuma's revenge.

That's weird, why did she send the card in the first place then?? I would have responded with a very sarcastic "Well, thank you very much, you kindness and thoughtfullness is much appreciated." Maybe it was a request she wasn't looking for though? Maybe she thought maybe something along the lines of praying for someone ill was more along her line? Or maybe someone was punking her, and she never sent the card in the first place!LOL
I hope your prayer comes true:)

Sounds reasonable to me for a prayer request.

My explanation? Just from what you wrote here - someone that got caught up in doing what they thought to be 'the thing to do' and not expecting for anyone to actually come up and ask for anything.

Did you find someone?

She thought sending the card was cute, but she never expected you to actually ask her to pray for a damn thing. You were just supposed to thank her for being so kind, doncha know, and not actually ask for her prayers.

You are either a woman, and she can't pray for a lesbian because they are sinners. Or she thought you were asking her out, but she doesn't like you.

it sounds like she should not have been on the prayer team....don't let that stop you......if you woudl like a wife, keep praying and have others (more normal) pray with you.

That lady sounds like a quack. I really don't know why she'd do that. Maybe talk to her and see why she responded like that.
