Being an agnostic, i'd say that considering the fact that humanity looks to so misunderstand God, 2 is in all probability (though no longer established with the non secular kinds - after all, we do not put in any of the paintings, yet nonetheless get the advantages). What do you may want to lose? by using the above, eternal existence, might want to the answer be a million or 3. i'd say that a million doesn't be that undesirable, only only give up to be. in spite of the indisputable fact that, i don't think of every body ought to favor to wade through in discomfort for all eternity.

First, (in our terms of time) the atheist experiences oblivion, until they realize that they are having this experience. Then they realize they still exist.
Then they begin to learn what they have always known. That they are one with God, and God is peace.

the same as what happens to everyone else. Nothing.
Our sense of being is only a bunch of electricity flowing through us. once that stops there is no way we can feel or sense. There will be no pain, no happiness, no memories, no light, no darkness.... just nothing. True nothingness is hard to believe and is why religion still has strength today.

Nothing. All of the organs shut down, they cease to function. No more thoughts, no more movement. The body goes into the ground and rots and fertilizes the earth. Those of us who are atheists are comfortable with the fact that there is no afterlife. We live life while we're here, alive, rather than suffering and dreaming about our pie in the sky after we die.

The same as what happens when anyone dies. You rot in the ground. Unappealing, but the truth often is, which goes a way to explain why religion always hides it.

Same thing that happens when a Christian dies... or a Buddhist... or a Jain... or a Muslim. The individual ceases to exist forever and the body is buried, cremated, or cryogenically frozen.

Read "Johnny and the Dead" by Terry Pratchett. It's a good book and it has my view on the topic.

we return for our final rest,..... back in the arms of mother nature.
It scares a lot of people, because the only social mechanisms in place at the moment, are conducted by the church using religion.
Its this fear of a final journey, that drives otherwise intelligent people, into the folds of an illogical prayer house.
It takes time to mentally prepare yourself for it,....... but neither atheists nor others, should fear death,.... as it is a normal passing of mother nature....
