I doing a project for my culinary class i need to know why do they feed ducks corn. wats so important. wat is the porpise

Corn will make then nice and fat. Fat is good, in ducks.

It's not so much WHAT they feed the ducks/geese, it's HOW MUCH they feed them.

Birds raised to become foie gras (fatted liver) are kept in tight cages so they cannot move (exercise) and are force-fed. This causes them to gain weight and develop a fatty liver, which is then prized for its richness amond some gourmands. Many people are opposed to foie gras because the treatment of the birds is so barbaric.
