One thing is for sure--John the apostle did not write the book of Revelations--which was written 130 years after the crucifixion & in a different language & style to the Gospel according to St John.

The apostles WROTE the New Testament. They shared new revelation of what Jesus taught them. They also set their eyes on it because these were the letters that they wrote to the new church that formed after Jesus' resurrection. They were able to share this because the power of God was in them as well as in us now. They old testament presented Jesus and people looked forward to his coming. After Jesus arrived as a baby and did his sacrifice on the cross prophecies were fulfilled. The New Testament is a new way of thinking through the love of God. Paul had amazing revelation and so did Peter and the other apostles (James, Jude, John). That is how we got the New Testament. God bless you!

It's debatable, but assumed he also wrote the Gospel of John, the 2nd and 3rd epistles and the Book of Revelations
