I know it is outdated but I still use Wordperfect for work. Does anyone know how to stop certain auto functions from happening, especially the one that changes (c) to the copyright symbol. It drives me nuts everytime!

Congratulations! You are using the best word processor. I would still be using it except that I need to exchange documents with many other people who use MS Word.

To control the automatic formatting, spelling correction, and symbol substitution, click
"Tools" on the menu bar at the top, then
"QuickCorrect"

You will get a tabbed dialog box which will show you a list of all the substitutions that are automatically done as you type. If there are just a few that you want to disable, then you can just delete them from the list. If you want to disable all the automatic changes, then uncheck the box "Replace words as you type".

My version of WP (9) doesn't change (c) to the copyright symbol, it changes (c to the symbol if you type a blank after the c. However my MS Word changes (c) to the copyright symbol, but I can change it back to (c) just by typing [backspace] right after it.

Sometimes I use the automatic formatting, but mostly I agree with you, I hate it, and keep it turned off.
